Games You Own, But Have Not Finished:

#1

Shegokigo

Shegokigo

My other thread reminded me of this:
What games you got left un-finished? Why?

Final Fantasy XII - As described in the other thread, I can't get past the level up system they used or the single player MMO feeling.

Xenosaga 1 & 2 - Tried a few times to get into the first part, but 1hr cut scenes are bland characters just turned me off before I could really get into it. Why do I own pt2? It was given to me as a gift.

Prince of Persia 1/2/3 - Heard so much about these for so long, figured I'd give it a go. Found a package deal of all 3 for $30 so I picked them up. Played the first one all the way through, and really enjoyed it.... then I played pt2 and was like "WTF?". Games like that really need some kind of direction, I spent so much damn time wanderering around between "times" with no clue where to go, and the map was terrible. None the less, I got near the end, and just couldn't stomach it anymore. Needless to say, I didn't play pt3.

Patapon - Fun for a day or two, really addictive. Problem? I play most of my games with constant distraction. Pets, GF, my GF watching TV, playing an MMO at the same time, listening to music, etc. This game, you MUST give it your full attention or you're going to lose over and over. I couldn't give it that kind of attention long enough to finish it. Still, great game.

These are the ones off the top of my head, I might have a couple more I'll remember when I get home.

Final Fantasy XII (yea... I got pretty far but forgot about it)

The World ends with You (on Joshua story... hate that prick)

Fallout 3 (Download and mods keep me from my main story)

You should really give Xenosaga another try. The long cutscenes ARE annoying, but I find the story more than makes up for it... especially in the last game, where they stop padding it out and resolve it.

As for games that I own buy haven't finished...

Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer - Honestly... I never even make it out of the first City. The furthest I've gotten is beating the Spirit Bear outside of the city and then I just lost all interest.

Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia - Because it WON'T FUCKING RUN. The patches don't do anything ether. This is a shoddy piece of shit... which is a shame because I played an Alpha build of it when it was still in development and it was fucking fun as hell.

Digimon Adventure 2 - I put 40-50 hours into it years ago and I just never got back to it.

Dragon Quest 7 - I put over a hundred hours into this and only JUST started the second disk. Kept getting killed by the same fucking boss too... I think it's the one in the town with the winged people.

Hulk: Ultimate Destruction

I got pretty far into it, but it got so repetitive and the story wasn't enough to make me care.

Knights of the Old Republic

I was loving it, but life got in the way. Doubt I'll ever have time to play it through unless it comes out in a portable version.

Shadow of the Colossus - I got bored of it. It's an amazing game, but around the 13th Colossus, I always get bored.

.hack//Outbreak - PS2 died as I started it, and my .hack//Mutation save got deleted in the intervening time. I don't really feel like playing through two games again just so I can play Outbreak.

Deadrising - Whenever I tried to go through the main storyline, I always got killed around the time I had to fight the one guy with the Sniper Rifle.

Thief: Deadly Shadows - ...I'm not sure why, actually. -reinstalls-

Neverwinter Nights - It just got old around Chapter 3.

Make time! Playing 15minutes a day if you have to and just save over and over! REALLY really worth it.

#12

Prototype - because I just bought it a few days ago and just haven't gotten through it yet.

Dungeon Seige 2 - bought it and tried playing it, but the camera angles and the way the game was setup just frustrated me and so I quit. Picked up playing a different game and never thought about it again until now. I may still have it laying around somewhere.

There are a bunch of other games that I have not finished, but for one reason or another, no longer own.

Metal Gear Solid 3 (never owned it, but played it either renting or borrowing it from a friend, just never had the chance)
Monkey Island 4 (could never get past the Monkey Kombat part)
Final Fantasy XII (I was bored stiff playing this; never even got past the introduction part of the game. Only got as far as some king getting assassinated or something. BOR-ING.)

Well got busy with work and stuff. I have been wanting to go back and play them but I had to move back in with my parents for a few months while I save some cash before I move to a new apartment. So my TV is in a box along with most of my games. I hooked up my 360 but I don't get much time to play it right now since it is hooked up to the main TV and I can't kick my parents off of the set. I would have it hooked up to my TV but sadly I am having to sleep on the couch since my old room is being used for storage and they haven't got a chance to clear it out yet.

I've finished most games I own. With the exception of a few campaigns from Heroes of Might & Magic IV 'cause I got bored of the game.

Then again, the only really 'long' game I own is Morrowind. You can argue I haven't finished it because I haven't done all the sidequests, but yeah, that's nitpicking.

#20

Le Quack

There are several games I didnt finish in the late 90's.

I never beat all the Duke Nukem Missions; I never beat Doom all the way through.
I only just now finished FF7 (I didnt realize after beating Ultimate Weapon just how close I was to the end)
FF8- I tried and tried but couldnt get passed a couple bosses and I have no tolerance for grinding.
FF9- Got to the last disk and just stopped.
Resident Evil 1- I've beaten all the other games, but one was too scary for me as a kid.

I have to say I find this amazing. As someone who plays games for the full experience, including the story (lacking though they may be), I find there are almost no games that I do not finish. The idea of starting one just to throw it off for another is completely mind boggling to me, particularly if it's actually a good game. I guess I would wonder why start them at all.

And for those who did not finish the Monkey Island games: you people are dead to me now.

Multiplayer usually doesn't require finishing a game. I'll also go back to a game from time to time and hit little bits of it, but I just don't commit enough time to finish them.

Oh man, this is depressing. Games I'm in the middle of, love, and do plan on finishing (in no order):

Chrono Trigger DS
Phantom Hourglass
Fable II
Mass Effect
Fallout 3
Bioshock
PORTAL (srsly)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (I think I have one case left)

I play really slowly and get distracted by real life and/or other games. And when I don't feel well I generally lose interest in gaming.

Good lord, this would be a long list.

The major reason for most games is standard, but common:

"I just haven't had enough time"

That has changed recently due to losing my job, so I'm getting back to games I never got to finish.

Here's the list of games I haven't finished yet that I plan to get back to.

Fallout 3
Dead Space
SF4- Haven't unlocked all the secret characters yet, so I'm counting that as unfinished
Hellgate London- This one I actually lost interest in
Prototype- because I just got it last week
MGS4

Not to be a prick but in a game like Ultimate destruction why would you care about the story? In such a game the story only exists to loosely tie together the parts where you run around and crush stuff, which is pretty much the whole point of the game. I don't really care why the hulk would turn a tour buss into surf board and downtown Manhattan into his own personal skate park but that isn't going to stop me from doing it.

Maybe its a taste thing. I watched a guy run around Red faction and do nothing but arbitrarily murder people and it seemed as about as much fun as mowing the lawn to me but what ever. To each his own.

Second on Kotor. I have trouble with the whole "Everyone can be a jedi" thing, and the story didn't really grab me.

Another for FF12. I like the game but Its never really pulled me along like other rpgs. Also: I have trouble with rpgs where all my characters are capable doing everything, I like roles.

I wasn't necessarily playing for the story, but the actual play didn't engage me after a while. I would have totally finished KOTOR if not time constraints. As it is, the only free time I have to play games are on my PSP when I'm on the stationary bike.

Actually these days the most troubling games for me are the rpgs that are stocked full of obscure extras that you have to insane things to obtain. I'm a little bit ocd so where as most of the time I'd just love to play through the game for the story and to say "Its done" Part of me wants to get everything along the way because I probably won't pick it up later. Sometimes have to say "Enough is Enough" like with ffx. (Recently) Beat it without the damned legendary weapons. I bout an rpg not a crappy chocobo racing game.

i can understand that. After I'm done with Rouge Galaxy I might give kotor another shot. It glichted out on me the last time I played it.

I am enjoying the crap out of RG though. The story is kind of weak, but I really love the game play, I even enjoy the mini games which I usually find to be trite throwaway games crammed into the game to artificially lengthen game play. The only thing that bothers me is the cutscenes the game goes into every time you use a special attack or power up. They can be skipped but it kind of breaks the combat pacing.

You must be 18 years of age or older and reside in one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia to subscribe to the Service.

And yes, I've tried our Canadian version http://gameaccess.ca and found that if I actually want to play a new game, I'll just have to wait the 6 months for a copy to become available. It's like Netflix. The more you use the service, the lower on the totem pole your priority is.

Simfers

Simfers

Let's see...

Final Fantasy VI (the PSX port) - After a while, the crumminess of the port (with slowdown that often made it nigh-unplayable) got to be too much. I was really liking the story, too... :explode: Might just get an emulator just to give it another go.

SaGa Frontier 1 & 2 - :puke:

Suikoden 2 - Had borrowed it and had to give it back at some point. Can't say I was too broken up about it.

The first .Hack tetralogy - Was just about to finish the second game and asked myself "do I really see myself playing this for another two games?" The answer was "no, I do not".

Final Fantasy X-2 - Just stopped caring about the story. At all. In any fashion whatsoever.

Nightshade - Got stuck on the last level. Stopped trying.

Odin Sphere - Went too long without playing it for various reasons, to the point where I'd have had to start over to make any sense of the whole thing. Didn't wanna.

Suikoden 5 - Loathed the army battle mechanics. Got to the point where you have to do two in a row. Said no.

Tales of the Abyss - Wanted the main character to die by inches. He refused to oblige. Fucker. :slap:

Ultimate Spider-Man - See Nightshade, only replace "last level" with "that goddamn Venom mission where you need to track down Electro".

Wild ARMs: Alter Code F - It was better (read: actually good) the first time around.

XenoSaga (part 1) - I purchased a game, not a bloody movie.

Wow, that's a lot... And I finish most of the games I play, too.

#40

David

David

Dark Star One - a bargain game that was focused around one gimmicky gameplay feature that got old fast. Also had a cheesy story and C-grade voice actors.

Etrom - also bargain game; found it for 3 bucks at Gamestop and figured "Sure, I'll check it out." Played it for a day than never felt compelled to pick it back up.

Final Fantasy IV/V/VI/VIII/IX/X/XII - Many of these I got all the way up to the final boss, lost, and just stopped playing rather than going back for obligatory several hours of extra leveling up. The only Final Fantasy I ever fully beat was VII.

.hack (If you count all 4 games as one big game)/Armored Core 2/Dark Cloud/Final Fantasy X-2/GTA: Vice City/Metal Arms/Summoner/Eternal Ring/Shadow of the Colossus - I'm pretty much reading straight across my PS2 shelf here. Some of them I picked up cheap somewhere and were just too horrible to play past the beginning. Others I wanted to play more but just never got around to. The point is moot because my PS2 is broken and I'm too cheap to get a new one anytime soon.

Armed and Dangerous - A Lucas Arts game from a few years ago that I heard was pretty good. Unfortunately I literally COULDN'T play passed the first couple levels due to huge glitches in the game effecting the mechanics. I don't know if it was the software or my hardware.

Final Fantasy XI - I'm counting as "not finished" because I never got a job to level 75 will all the epic gear. I'd like to someday, but I don't have the money or time to keep my account active.

Brave Fencer Musashi - lost the disk

Untold Legends - PSP game I got as a gift that gets pretty dull without someone to play it with. Basically just a level treadmill.

Spore - got boring

Mount and Blade - I'm not really sure which point of the game counts as "finishing" it, but I never managed to take over the whole kingdom which is what I was aiming for.

Tomb Raider - the first PS1 game I got when I was 9 years old - was too hard for me to beat and when I pick it up now it doesn't really hold my interest

Call of Duty IV - just never picked it back up after first time playing

Doom 3 - Ditto

Several hundred SNES games - I downloaded the whole US game library for emulation. The problem with having so many many games is the moment I feel the least bit tired of one game I can go "I wonder what the next is like?" The one I've come closest to so far is Uncharted Waters 2 - I explored the earth and found all the discoveries, just never completed the final mission.

Jade Cocoon - a cheap pokemon knockoff for PS1. Got boring.

Pokemon (any of them) - I never caught 'em all :waah:

Oblivion/morrowind - I get too distracted with side-missions and ignore the main storyline

Zelda: any of them: I don't think I ever completed all the dungeons for a zelda game.

Myst II/III: couldn't figure out the puzzles. Hell, I only got through the first Myst thanks to an online guide.

Mr. Lawface

Bioshock - I didn't think it was great as everyone says.
God of War - It wasn't the kind of game I like.
Shadow of the Colossus - I got busy and never got back to it.
Resident Evil 4 - The controls annoyed the hell out of me.
Beyond Good and Evil - I DON'T KNOW.
Far Cry - Got tired of it.
Heroes of Might and Magic 5 - Storyline was stupid.
Morrowind - See SotC explanation.
Psychonauts - I got stuck at the meat circus.
The Witcher - I'm working on it.
Rainbow Six: Vegas - It was too hard. :X
Dungeon Siege - Bought it forever ago, and when I tried it again I decided it didn't age well.
Prince of Persia - Too hard.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance - I got tired of it fast.

There are probably more that I have forgotten. I'm not able to actually look at my game collection right now.

I'm kinda surprised by all the people who didn't finish RPGs. Those are the games that I find so good I can't help but finish them.

Final Fantasy IX and XII - On IX, I got to the last dungeon and realized I honestly didn't care how the game ended, so I stopped. No interest in any characters save ViVi, who's story I had seen to it's end, pretty much. XII's battle system just pulled me out of the story too much, I couldn't stand it.

Breath of Fire III - Kinda sad I never finished this, I love this series and consider this the last good one (that I played). Never got around to getting done with it though, I can't remember why.

Lost Odyssey - No interest in the story at all past the first 6-7 hours. The intro/prologue was also boring as fuck.

Eternal Sonata - Another I want to get done eventually, but I don't really remember what's going on in the story at the point I'm at now (almost done).

Silver Jelly

Basicly, I have finished Monkey Island I and II, Sam & Max hit the road, Day of the Tentacle, Broken Sword I, Warioland 1, 2 and 4, Knights of the Old Republic... and I can't think of any more.

The Lucas adventures because I love their humor and Style of Graphic adventuring. No diying, interesting gags, great graphics, a steadily increasing level of difficulty without it becoming excessive...

Broken Sword I because I absolutely loved the plot.

Warioland 1 and 2 because I really liked the style of play (especially for the first one). Not only was Warioland 4 great (and, in some ways, a return to the first game's controls), but it also was the only game I had on my Game Boy advance when I had to spend lots of time in bed after some surgery.

Knights of the old republic RULED SO HARD.

What I can tell you is that I don't finish most of the games I play/own because I don't like to play really difficult games. When I can think of what I must do but find I'm unable to execute it (because of my, let's admit it, lack of talent for accurate control), i start to get frustrated and frustrated until I stop playing.

But I haven't bought a videogame in years. What I like to do is watch my brother play them.

* Roller Coaster Tycoon - I had so much fun just playing on a single map, putting more and more insane things in, that I never got around to finishing all the later parks.
* World of Goo - I still plan to finish, I just haven't felt like puzzle games much this year.
* Super Paper Mario - I haven't gamed much on my Wii since I moved it to my bedroom (I still use it a lot for news and some web surfing)
* Wario Land: Shake It! - Same reason. I'll probably finish both at some point.
* Faxanadu - it got too tough at some point and I gave up. In fact, I think I sold it and don't own it anymore.
* Mega Man 2 - Grrr! Stupid tough NES games!
* Afterlife (from Lucasarts) - never even played it. Got it as part of a bundle.
* King's Quest III - frustrating, couldn't even figure it out with lots of hints.

I bet you were in the desert. The directions given by the guy are wrong--he tells you to follow the star to the left of the one you're supposed to be following. I quit the game for 2 years, and then looked it up online, and finally got to the Goddess's dome, the final dungeon.

Remembered another one:

Any of the Grand Theft Auto games. I actually love the storymode aspect of the game, but after obsessively playing them for so long, I would get tired of it and forget about them. Or get so frustrated doing the same mission over and over, trying to beat it and never could. For example, as much fun as the RC missions were in San Andreas, I could NEVER beat one of the last ones.

Sid Meier's Pirates

Played the hell out of this game but often ignored the main quest. Unfortunately when I did go through the main quest I was playing on the hardest difficulty and my old man pirate was stuck in a stalemate on the final duel.

Just remembered:

The Longest Journey 2. LOOOOOOVVED the first one, but the second one became too action-y and not adventure-y enough. My comp was too slow AND the controls sucked ass when it came to the guy making the pizza catching me snooping around.

crono1224

Bioshock - I had crashing problems at one point and never bothered to finish.
FF3 (or what ever the real number is) - It glitched out at one point and I got lazy
Daggerfall - Too young and just liked messing around killing guards more than the actual game.

Conversely, here's a list of games that I HAVE beaten.

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy Tactics
Portal
Jak and Daxter, Jak II, Jack III, Daxter
Ratchet and Clank , Going Commando, Up your Arsenal, Deadlocked, Size Matters
Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2, Spyro 3
Super Mario 64 (didn't get all the stars though)
Chrono Trigger
Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2
Tekken 3

so yeah, I've started way more games than I finished... This thread is making me want to go back and complete a few from my first list.

Viewtiful Joe
Got stuck on the final boss and annoyed that the save point isn't right in front of the final boss but makes you fight several other bosses first.

The Legend of Zelda (NES)
Didn't really know where to go after beating a few dungeons. Should get back to it.

Mega Man 2
Too hard without being fun enough. Might try again some time.

Sonic Mega Collection
Got annoyed by not being able to save, and some of the games just suck.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
Haven't started yet, but I'll get to that soon.

Zelda: Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3
When I bought the Wii I had hopped to play these games with much enthusiasm. I didn't get very far before I lost interest and started playing WoW again. I think the problem was that I bought the wii with mostly the party games in mind. Ya know... stuff I could play with my friends.

I've been recently giving Twilight Princess another try and I have to admit it's a good story thus far.

Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3
A shitload of PS2 games (Clock Tower 3, both Devil Summoner SMT PS2 games, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, and several others)
Metroid Prime 2 and 3 (stopped playing 2 while looking for the keys to the final boss fight, haven't started on 3 yet despite loving the series)

a whole lot of games. I used to suffer from the "damn the game is almost over, i should play somehting else" disease.

games i own i've not completed

Fallout 3 (was on my way but save crashed)
Oblivion (bleh)
Morrowind (mods got in the way)
Call of Juarez
Bioshock (too much hype so i was disappointed but i'll finish it this summer)
Civ IV: i don't win on deity yet
Drakensang (bought it on steam, don't like it)
Fable 2 (i know, shortest game ever - Fallout 3 got in the way)
Vampire: Bloodlines, always get bored in act 3 :(

and many more

Psychonauts-stuck in that dang disco thing, on the bouncy ball.
Half life 2-Just had a meh attack I couldn't fight off.

I got to the very last area and had no armor left, so I was getting one-shotted by everything. I said "Fuck it" and just uninstalled it. The game is fun, but it's not fun enough to justify me reloading the same fight for the 50th time just so I can advance 20 feet and get popped by someone else.

Just to keep this list in the realm of "not too insanely long to type," I'm only including PS2, Wii, GCN, PS3, DS, and PSP. Or also known as "the systems actually hooked up/I'm playing sort of regularly."

Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters - Currently playing
Gurumin - Currently playing
GTA 4 - Fun, I dig the story, but it's really easy to put it to the side when you have to replay a whole mission 5 times in a row and burn 40 minutes of playtime. It'll eventually be beat.
Dead Space - Bought it on sale, then just sort of got put to the side for other games.
Dark Sector - Playing at the moment
The Darkness - Got it in a buy 1 get 1 free sale, so hasn't been a priority
Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway - Started playing then got pushed to the side. Wanting to get the other 2 games before I go back.
Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers - I mostly bought it to have that awesome name on my shelf.
MadWorld - Currently playing, kind of. It takes effort to get me to turn on my Wii.
House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return - Not sure why
XIII - Got pushed to the side, never got back to it.
Tales of Legendia - Keeps getting pushed to the side for other RPGs(I don't like playing multiple RPGs at once)
Sly 3 - Currently playing
Resident Evil: Dead Aim - Sold my first PS2 before I beat it, haven't gone back to it.
Persona 3: FES - It's fucking LONG... currently playing.
Okami - Got it on sale for $4, going to get to some day.
Killzone - Got about 80% through, then it got pushed to the side for RE5 and Resistance 2. Haven't gotten back to it yet.
Killer7 - Tried twice... Such an awesome game, but I'd rather watch someone play it. Will go back to again.
Jak 2 - Frustrating mother fucking piece of shit. Grinded my way to the 60% mark, then booted it up to play, spaced out, forgot that the menu defaults on "new game" instead of "load game," accidentally started a new game over my save. Unsure if I'm going to try again.
God of War - I dunno. Just got pushed to the side.
Ghosthunter - Got pushed to the side for other games.
FFXII - Kinda got pushed to the side for Persona 3.
Blitz: The League - Pushed to the side.
Viewtiful Joe - Hit a point, saved, went back, didn't know wtf I was doing. Need to try again.
Ultimate Spider-Man - Pushed to the side, problem forcing myself to turn on Wii.
Skies of Arcadia: Legends - Got pushed to the side for a long enough time I'll have to restart it. So it's on the very back burner now.
RE: Code Veronica X - For some reason the controls feel ultra loose. Having trouble getting into it.
RE 0 - Got really far, cornered myself into a "I'm fucked" situation, went back and restarted, hit the same point, and just pushed it to the side for some reason.
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within - Pushed to the side long enough I gotta restart. Kind of because it's not nearly as good as SoT.
Metroid Prime 2 - Pushed to the side.
Ikaruga - Because it's fucking hard.
Baten Kaitos - Because it sucks and it's on my trade list.
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones - Got distracted
Pokemon Leaf Green - I never seem to beat Pokemon games. I put 30-40 hours then lose steam.
Sonic Chronicles - One of those games I just play for 30 minutes every now and then.
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence - Beat another version, so don't really care if I beat it or not.
Metal Slug 7 - Just got it, currently playing.
Dragon Quest 4 - Got it, played for 30 minutes, pushed to the side.
Dementium - Pushed to the side, kind of forgot I had it.

On top of all those, I've probably got another 4 or 5 PS1 games I haven't beaten, 6 or 7 Dreamcast games, probably most of my NES games, and about half of my SNES and Genesis games. I have a bad habit of just pushing games aside for other games, or buying them on a whim and not giving them much of a shot. Also not including PC games, because I have a REALLY hard time completing PC games for some reason. I just lose drive to boot it up after a couple hours. I can probably count the PC games I've completed on one hand.

It's easy. Most people play games simply as something entertaining to do in free time. They don't necessarily give a shit about the story or ending or anything.

Shegokigo said:

Easy. Sales and deals. A solid 60-70% of the games I own were bought on sale, clearance, or just simply super cheap. Or I traded someone for multiple games, and just didn't get around to 1 or 2 of them. When you pay almost nothing for the game, it's easy to buy a game you want to play, but not necessarily play now. So they get shifted behind everything else.

Somehow, that made me lol...

And yeah, btw, I also got unfinished books. And unfinished DVD's in my shelves...

If something doesn't manage to get my full, undivided attention (by sucking me completely in...), why bother finishing it? At least, I AM thankful for the time it got my attention and helped me kill some time. If I don't finish it: Well, so what, it's not as if my life would depend on knowing how a certain story ends or so.

Why do I play games that I do not finish?

For the joy they give during the time I actually play them.

If I have the feeling of being obliged to finish a game, just to see it through and finish it: Personally, for me that's not fun and that's not enjoyable any more.

And most games tend to be just not enjoyable anymore after a while... (happens more often with games than with books or movies, btw.) So I quit playing them and tend to another (momentarily) joyful game.

Would you consider that wrong, shego? ;-)

Limiting myself to games I currently own...
Dungeon Siege - Made it quite a ways through the original, then bought the pack with LoA included, on hold until I can play it multiplayer with the wife.
Myst III: Exile - On hold until we can finish Riven so that we can go through Exile together.
Warcraft III - Lost my install discs (and my key). Still installed on my computer along with all my saves, but can't play it.
Warcraft II - Finished all but the last couple of missions for each race, usurped by Starcraft.
Starcraft/Brood War - Same as above. Want to finish, but such a hassle to drag out the old machine(s) to play it.
Master of Orion III - Because it sucks.
Dungeon Keeper/DK II - Hilarious and fun, but getting out the old machine to play it is a pain.
Thief/Thief II - These are extra special. I actually bought the specific 4.1 surround system for my SBLive! card so I could play this game...and then never hooked it up. I've played through a number of levels, but the speakers are still in the box. Again, getting out the old machine is a pain.
The Ultimate RPG Archives - Just bought it for The Bard's Tale, the rest can go hang. I've finished BT I & II, but haven't even started III yet. Not sure I ever will.
The Bard's Tale (the new one) - Waiting until the wife and I can enjoy it together
Bad Mojo - Waiting until we can enjoy it together
Flashback - Neat, but never really thrilled me
Black & White/Creature Isle - 1) I had so much fun playing the tutorial, I never really made it past the first world or two. 2) I hate creature management.
Risk/RiskII/CivII - Wanted to play them at the time, got sidetracked, haven't gone back
CivIII - See above
The Crystal Key - Didn't like it
Morrowind - She's finished it, I got caught up in the side quests and 'perfecting' my character.
FFVII - Modern computers are too fast, the old one is a pain to set up.

Many of the 'old machine is a pain' games were put on halt after a reinstall and just didn't want to have to set everything back up again, replay through the old levels, etc.

That's all I can think of without digging through some boxes marked 'ancient history' (NES, SNES, Intellivision, etc)

Most games that I buy, I buy for the multiplayer aspect. There are some single player that I still buy though.

The games I remember not finishing:

Assassin's Creed - got to be boring. I liked the concept, but after awhile it was just doing the same things over and over again. Could they not have at least put in a few more styles of "side-quest"?

Halo CE - Too many rooms and hallways that look identical. I do have H2 and H3, but purely for the multiplayer. I still contend that H2/3 has the best console interface for multiplayer (easy to get groups together, easy to switch modes/gametypes, I'm absolutely sick of games where you have to quit out of the game lobby if you want to alter the game mode itself).

Burnout Revenge - was fun racing cars, but I don't feel the need to complete every frickin' race/race track.

Gears of War - I'm not nearly macho enough to play that game the whole way through. The dialogue just made me want to puke, and really? Cut-scenes? I have to watch the entire cut-scene if I die? I can't skip past it? FU!

After getting stuck on a level, fight, puzzle or what ever; a game just loses its fun factor. I hate when I am doing the exact same thing over and over, and losing. Then I look up and I've been losing at this 'game' for 3+ hours, I'll hang it up and move on to the next fun 'waste of time.'

I like to look at my games as games, and not some thing I HAVE to do.

fade

Everything but Legacy of Kain, the RE series, Silent Hill 1-3, The Suffering, and Fable.

Why? Because the gameplay gets really boring on almost all games after a few hours. Like I said in another thread, I'm very tired of "hit with boring, self-aiming attacks but don't let lifebar drop!" mechanics. The first Devil May Cry had a neat new approach to game mechanics, but it was repetitive enough (and had such a trite story) that I didn't want to play past the 3 day rental.

-Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (Gamestop did a deal where you buy the game for $10 and get a free wired guitar; haven't even opened it yet)
-Lost Planet (I bought it from a guy for $4, can't complain)
-Blue Dragon (was in Japanese, and, while I speak it well enough to translate it on the fly, I'd get a stumbling block every so often. That and I don't normally like RPGs.)
