How many of us read Hatchet in our youths? I sure did. One of my favorite books as a teenager.

I read it in middle school and thought it was a really good book. Also read the sequel The River, which I also enjoyed. Sad to hear of his passing.

I read My Side of the Mountain back in the day, but this is the first I've heard of this guy.

I learned today that there were 3 more sequels, but all of them are set in an alternate timeline.

I usually read Hatchet to my class each year, then recommend they read the alternate ending followup "Brian's Winter". More often than not, students love them. Sad to hear of his passing.
