What the FUCK??? First Trachtenberg, and now Hackman???

Holy fucking shit. This looks like probably radon or carbon monoxide. Whoa. What's weird is he was 95. I had no idea he was that age. So normally you see someone 95 dying and you say, "Well, he lived a good life." But I'm still shocked and saddened by this.

He was in the category of people I would occasionally be surprised to learn was still alive so seeing this thread wasn’t too surprising, but i definitely didn’t expect the reason.

He had so many great roles. Missed seeing him in films since he retired. Sad to hear about his wife and dog too. You would think they would have detectors. Hopefully it wasn't something more tragic.

Brilliant actor. So good as the conservative Senator in The Birdcage. And he's still my favorite Lex. And of course his brilliant cameo in Young Frankenstein. Basically just list his entire filmography.
Radon is usually about lung cancer, but CO and CO2 or natural gas are definitely still in play, as are things like food/drink (contaminated dinner shared with dog). I am VERY interested in seeing how this gets ruled.
Also now I can no longer tell Dabney Coleman and Gene Hackman apart in my head by saying "[not] the one who's still alive."

Dabney Coleman was in the amazing Cloak and Dagger, and Hackman was in at least a dozen amazing films. Mustaches aside, not very comparable, IMO

I don't know why I confuse the two, though I think it's because I saw 9 to 5 not that long after Superman.
The body of Betsy Arakawa, wife to actor Gene Hackman, was found with signs of mummification, a search warrant states. She and her husband were found on Feb. 26, and were reportedly dead at least one day before they were found.

Like, "we think they may have been dead for a week or more when found" unfolding.

This one is from the Daily Mail. Look at the recent picture of him. I would not have recognized him.
Grim new details about the couple's deaths have emerged.

Negative for CO poisoning, Hackman's pacemaker halted itself on Feb 17th, still some uncertainty as to the order of the deaths, investigation still underway.

I assume he died of natural causes and she killed herself on pills. The dog worries me.

I want to say the idea hadn't occurred to me as well, but I can't.

General Specific
Reports did say pills were scattered around, dog could have eaten some and died as a result. I think two other dogs were found in generally good health.
After reading they had been dead for over a week, my thoughts were that Gene died of natural causes and wife was so distraught that she OD’d on pills, intentionally or not.

That's my theory too. Gene died of natural cause his wife sadly chose the pills. What I don't get is that it took a week to find them. Why no message to inform someone to come to the house the next day for the dogs? On the other hand my grandmother also didn't leave a message that explained why she decided to end her life.
I got bad news for you. They died over 9 days ago according to the medical examiner. It’s the last time Hackman’s pacemaker fired. They had three dogs. One was outside & survived. One was inside and survived. Probably because it had access to the dog food. The third died because it was in a kennel. So it died a very slow and gruesome death.
