Genetic Cars 2!

Found a nice little 'game' to pass the time while I'm struggling to complete homework:

http://rednuht.org/genetic_cars_2/

Essentially a quick like HTML5 program that takes a randomly seeded world, randomly seeded cars and 'evolves' them over generations to make faster/more resilient cars.

With a seed of 'halforums' I haven't been able to get very far over dozens of generations.

123.87 Meters

It would be interesting to see how many people with random cars would do.

If we all use the same seed, it would be interesting to see how the various mutations compete against each other.

Good idea...my seed has a huge valley with a large cliff on the other side at 180m. I got there on gen 3, but haven't been able to get past it 20 generations later. I'll start over with halforums and see how it goes :)

187.08 in what basically looks like a doberman pinscher head with large wheels in front and back after 46 generations.

Right now I have a teardrop shaped car with large wheels stuck at 185.66. Hasn't gotten an improved score since gen 16 and I'm on gen 23, there's what looks like an impassible cliff.

Firefox made me stop my attempts for updates.[DOUBLEPOST=1421460425,1421459936][/DOUBLEPOST]156.92 d:152.47 h:-5.31/4m (gen 12)

BTW: "Create new world with seed: The same seed always creates the same track, so you can agree on a seed with your friends and compete. :)"

I'm pretty sure we're all going to get stuck around the 193 mark, because that cliff is just impossible to get up. I'll continue to let it run and see what happens, but that's my prediction for the halforums seed.[DOUBLEPOST=1421472805,1421472742][/DOUBLEPOST]FYI, I'm at, like 300 generations and haven't exceeded 193.33.

How the f*ck are all of your cars getting past 130m? I've been stuck there with seed "halforums" for 14 generations now. Two cars have gotten past the bump there, only to fall on their nose in the dip right after.

OK, the moment I type that, gen 16 goes to 170 meters, where there's....An overhang? Seriously guys?

#1: 192.27 d:187.92 h:-16.08/3.65m (gen 37)
#2: 191.32 d:187.27 h:-16.08/4m (gen 51)
#3: 191.31 d:187.83 h:-16.06/3.65m (gen 48), just passed gen 61

As of right now, generation 555, Top score 218.62 on generation 404. It was a completely lucky shot, the light tires let it fly over the cliff at 133, but all subsequent cars have gotten stuck there.

Still gonna leave it until morning.

#3: 193.44 d:188.26 h:-15.76/3.15m (gen 157)

One lucky shot as well...220-ish is a dick location but yeah, all cars afterwards are once again stuck in 192/3. Being ultra light and flying over 130 and 190 seems to be the only option.

Sorry :p[DOUBLEPOST=1421492933,1421492749][/DOUBLEPOST]Apparently, after some 250 or so meters, there's no more terrain - he goes into freefall until the timer runs out for not having touched the ground for too long.geneticcars.png

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious runs out of terrain, too. At generation 131 I got to 367.39 and was just free falling.

I have it started in Chrome in the background. I'm going to let it run overnight while I'm at work, using Earth grav and "Halforums" as the string, and see what comes up.
