I have an awful habit of forgetting to check who writes each post. It took me several replies before I caught on that this post was made by you, Panda, and not some other forumite who had found pictures of awesome cosplay. You look so different with dark hair, as opposed to the red in the Goblin Queen costume. I did a double take until I realized the boots are the same. You wear both costumes very well. Are there any other characters in your collection? Have I posed other pics of you without realizing it?

Good looking woman in a skimpy outfit? Check!

SAME WOMAN posting in the thread? Check!

People more worried about the pose than the fact that she's a hot chick in a cool outfit? Check!

Chaz beating me to the punch pointing it out? Check and MATE!


There are several parts to her original post that are full of win. First, she's hot. Of course that's got to be said first. Second - and I think this can't be stated enough - this is a hot chick who is into geek things!

If I weren't married I'd be macking on her in a totally creepy and offputting way. It was how I rolled.

We have different styles. What I've done with the hot cosplayer chick in my class has been not being able to talk to her since the first day we speaked, in wich I was completely drunk.

I believe you've posted me Scarlet Witch, I've seen myself on here as her a couple times. George Perez gypsy outfit from SDCC09 is me, with curly brown hair and a goofy smile.

I also have an Emma Frost in my collection and am working on a modern version Star Sapphire.

Yup, I have posted pics of you as Scarlet Witch. There's one on the first page, same as Goblin Queen. There are a lot more of you as Scarlet Witch on Flickr than there are of you as Goblin Queen. I remember seeing your SW over and over, people must have really liked you in that one. I'm surprised you don't have good shots. Now I wish I'd bookmarked more, I usually only save links for what I'm going to post. I think this one is the only other one I've got bookmarked.



Honestly, I don't know much about cosplay, and apparently I'm terrible at recognizing cosplayers. The only thing that's kept this thread going is a lot of free time to sift through Flickr. I don't have any other qualifications.

If I may ask:
What got you started in cosplay?
Do you make your own costumes?
Do you have time to do anything but pose for pictures while you're at a con? ;)
How did you choose your costumes? Favorite characters? Favorite costumes? Outfits you look best in?
What's the best reaction you've gotten to one of your costumes? The worst?



To everyone else reading this thread: I'm sorry I haven't been posting new pics lately. Things have been busy around here, and I leave for vacation on Thursday. I may not be able to post anything until I get back.

What got you started in cosplay?

The first time I went to Comic Con San Diego after moving to the USA from Australia I saw people cosplaying and was intrigued and also annoyed at how often my favorite characters were either not represented or they were represented really, really shoddily. I saw an Emma Frost that was white jeans and a cut up t-shirt and it bugged the day lights out of me. If you're going to dress up, do it right!

Do you make your own costumes?

Yes and no. If I can find/ buy what I need then I will go ahead and make it from scratch but I prefer to "Adapt" rather than outright sew... mainly because I am lazy.

Do you have time to do anything but pose for pictures while you're at a con?

Oh yes, I usually spend an hour or two in Artists Alley chatting it up with the people in there when I am in costume. I like to always visit Artists Alley because I know a lot of them are more or less shackled to their tables and don't really get to see much of the con so I try and bring a bit of the con to them.

How did you choose your costumes? Favorite characters? Favorite costumes? Outfits you look best in?

Liking the character is a must, although they don't have to be my favorite. Liking the costume is also a must and then if those 2 requirements are meet I look for something that flatters my figure.

What's the best reaction you've gotten to one of your costumes? The worst?

The reason there isn't that many pictures of my Goblyn Queen costume is that I only had it on for an hour, maybe two before I actually got a little bit fearful and had to change out of it. Any cosplayer gets attention in costume and I am aware that I go for flesh baring costume choices but normally people are very respectful with keeping their distance and asking for a photo.

When I was wearing the Goblyn Queen people kept wanting to touch me and it got a little creepy weird. For example in my Scarlet Witch I would say about 35% of the people who wanted a picture wanted one with me and when they did, they would just stand next to me, or let me rest an arm on their shoulders for the pose.

For Goblyn Queen 90% of people wanted a picture with me and they all wanted to put their arm around my waist, or my hips, or my shoulders. Nothing was grabbed, thankfully, cos I would have bitch slapped someone, but it was really creepy how many people wanted to touch me.

Then there was the creepy guy who kept following me muttering "damn" under his breath and grunting....

I'm sure it wouldn't have been nearly so bad if I hadn't been walking around solo and without any kind of escort or a group of other cos-players but I think that was definitely the worst I've ever had.

This year I'm going to make sure to have an escort or two for my Vampirella.
