I know porn is popular on the net and all, but I find it hard to believe that porn sites get more hits than, say google or yahoo.

Somewhere, right now, a secret cabal of trillionares is overseeing Project Pornography... where a billion computers in their malicious underground research facility visit every porn website on the internet a billion times a day. The reason for doing this? Unknown. But decades from now, when their schemes see fruition, we'll all wish we'd done seen it coming.

Nah, seriously though, :hump: > :google:

Look at it this way when people are browsing SFW sites at work or at home where their family/coworkers may be around if there co-inhabitants come by they will leave those sites up. If they are cruising for porn they will probably close the window down if at work or their signifigant other or roomate is passing by.

So while google and yahoo may get more legitimate count on a session with their site porn sites probably get alot of clicks due to reloading the page.

That actually does make sense, but some of the sites like silverdaddies.com?

A niche gay porn site gets more hits than the biggies?

I make close to that in ad revenue the last quarter of the year (when people are hitting my website looking for recommendations for christmas-time), but usually it's about half that.

a quick look at my usage log shows that pageviews are off. I make about 60,000 more a year than they guess at. I imagine I'd have much more ad revenue if my site wasn't such a small-niche audience. Tinwhistle ads pay abysmally low. I'm not sure if my agreement with google prevents me from disclosing how low I've estimated they are, but trust me, it's pretty low.

If I had real-estate or gambling ads, they'd probably pay a couple dollars per click, and I'd be making a lot more bank. heh :)
