.99999... is not one. There is no good way to properly express .99999... but just because there's a limitation on writing infinite digits that doesn't mean the way we write numbers changes. (.99999....) x 10 is a nonsensical equation. Just like 1/3 doesn't really equal .33333... that's just the closest we can come to it.
