How do you read the forum?

I'm curious how everyone goes about reading this forum. I have the alerts bookmarked personally. That seems a bit selfish, as it focuses on threads to which I've replied. But it is fast and focused, which is good at work. How do you do it?

I scan through titles of unread topics.

If you only check threads you replied to, how do you ever reply to threads in the first place?

I bookmarked unread watched threads, open all the pages I want to keep reading then I click on "new threads" and check out anything new.

Click 'What's New?' and open threads according to taste/level of boredom.

That's just where I start, because often it's all I have time for.

I click "What's New" till I've read all the new posts that interest me. Then I clean it all out with "Mark Forums Read". Following that I use the "What's New" button and the cycle repeats.

I never saw that "What's New" button before. I'm bookmarking that. Thanks.

How do you read the forum?
One hand palming my face, the other in my pants.

Exactly this.

I browse through the forums looking for unread threads that interest me. It's a little haphazard, but it works out since I read so many threads.

Or before you post, it sometimes seems.

To be honest, I take this approach, too, when it's clear the thread has devolved, and my opponent is no longer really listening to me.

I hit the main forum page and read any new posts in any threads that I watch or have received alerts from. Possibly respond to them too, if necessary. Then just hit General, Media Madness, Arts, and Games and browse manually.

I just GIS'd the phrase 'topless viking' to find a pic with which to respond to this post, but the only thing even remotely relevant is a topless girl with a purple horned helmet and the word 'lust' painted on her upper body.

Click the what's new button. Peruse. When all current threads have exhausted their entertainment value and I am still wasting time I will pick a random page from the past and see if it holds any gems that I may have missed.

I don't actually have a beef with you at all, unlike some here seem to. Like every other person made of bone and flesh and filled with silly ideas, sometimes I agree with you and sometimes I don't. So please don't take offense.

But this seems the much more likely scenario, based on just about everyone I've ever met, including myself, and so I just couldn't resist.

edit: Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who never noticed the what's new button before.

I automatically "watch" any thread I reply to. My first stop is to check watched threads, then after I've read all those, if I have time, I go to "what's new" and see if anything there piques my interest. Honestly I don't much like our current setup. I hate subforums, in my opinion it's better to shove everything into one big forum.

I stalk through the threads, looking for any reply, any mention of me, in hopes of validating my existence through the opinions of you misanthropes.

And when that fails, I cry and masturbate to the cosplay thread.

Raven, that's no good. You should masturbate to the Webcomic Appreciation Jamboree instead.

I find the subforums pretty useful, I'd rather have the "what's new?" threads sorted by subforum

According to Xenforo, version 1.1 will have thread prefixes, which will be sortable.

If we choose to use them as we did before.
