I am not seriously shopping for a new PC. But, I've been looking for a HTPC that is about the size and shape of a stereo component.

Not to concerned about components. Just a basic PC that will fit on a stereo cabinet. Have TV and Stereo handled.

you planning to do 1080p? That's important... not something I'd recommend on just your basic PC with an intel onboard vid card.

I have 720 now. I can't afford one of the majorly expensive cards.

Mostly looking for a manufacturer that does HTPC in the right size and shape.

I hate searching newegg for HTPC and getting a hit for a 19" all in one, touch-screen PC.

Are you doing just playback, or are you planning on making it a DVR as well?

Smallest one I know is the FitPC2. I really want to get one to experiment with it.

No DVR, have that taken care of. Mostly to surf the web, play some movies, Jukebox for my stereo (#1 reason,) maybe a little warcraft when I want to hit the recliner and farm....

Ah, okay, Warcraft rules out an Atom-based HTPC/Nettop (as would wanting to watch Hulu and other tasks that don't get offloaded to the GPU reliably).

Are you looking for something pre-built or to assemble yourself?

At the window shopping phase I am looking for prebuilt. I know the Antec Sonata case is close to the form factor that I am looking for, but I'd like some thing a bit shorter. I do build most of my PC's. But I will buy from time to time just to skip the hassle.
