Hey mods? Dave? Where's that post we had that listed the rules? I can't find it.

And Debby, don't try to be someone you're not just to please us. Just be yourself. We prefer honesty to superficiality. We have people conflicting with each other, true. Two guys might have a hell of a debate in a political thread, and conclude the other person is a total idiot hell-bent on destroying the country and probably the world. Two minutes later they're brofisting each other because they both liked a funny picture that was posted in the funny pictures thread.

We're like one big wacky family. We butt heads, but in the end things tend to turn out all right. :)

Part of the confusion might arise from the fact that we're a relatively small group. We're not a huge forum with millions of members. That means there are some well-established in-jokes or personality quirks that lots of people are familiar with. For example, we call Gasbandit an Ewok. Emrys has doomweasels. Littlesin is the forum Cthulu.

We also used to have several murderous lesbians, but they appear to have gone on a forum hiatus. We do miss them.

Point is, you'll pick it up soon enough. :)

As for hating on you, well I guess no one can promise no hating will occur. We're probably too honest and too diverse a bunch for everyone to nicely agree with everyone else. But, generally speaking, we're pretty civil. For forumites who we see as being able to take the flak, sometimes we are indeed less civil to them (Charlie immediately comes to mind) but generally speaking none of it is in malice. :)

Terms and Rules can be found here. But essentially it goes: no child porn and don't be a dick. If you see a mod writing in color or in bold and color, then it's official business.

And yes, there is a fair amount of in-jokes that come from us being a relatively small and close-knit forum. Announcements of dead celebrities are tagged "Brazleton" because Tom Brazleton of Theater Hopper used to post most of these. Then there's "Sounds Like Nick's Prom Night" for embarrassing moments and double entendres, similies inducing table flipping, my vendetta against pants, and Dave being old as time. More can be found here, although the Wiki could use a little updating.

But seriously, as long as you don't post child porn and don't be a dick, you're okay in our books. As stated, we have people from all walks of life and all inclinations: men, women, transgendered, straight, gay, bisexual, furries, bronies, trekkies, browncoats, sci-fi nuts, fantasy enthusiasts, freaks, geeks, nerds, dorks, American, European, Asian, hippies, yuppies, transhumanists, poets, painters, musicians, doodlers, dabblers, dilettantes, cosplayers, roleplayers, gamers, stand-up comedians, single, dating, married, lefties, righties, film critics, couch potatoes, joggers, loungers, civilians, military... did I miss anyone?

On the contrary, I have made it a sworn mission to destroy as many of the blasted things as possible. How awful that the bloody thing is associated with SA. Gratefully since the World Cup they have gone quiet. It should be a capital offense to blow into one
