He was probably the most important leader of the NDP, and certainly its most successful. I was looking forward to seeing him take my Conservatives to task.
He always had class, dignity and was never a cynic; I held respect for him. It's a sad day for Canada.

Not a fan of his politics, but he appeared to be a "Good Guy". It's a shame, he goes from an Epic Win to a Rant thread all in the space of a couple months.

He definitely inspired a lot of people. It's a great loss.

I was a fan of his politics and am pretty bummed.

I'm not very familiar with him and his work, but the little woman says "he was a good man, nice guy, just in the wrong party."

I'm not exactly aligned with Jack's political views, but that aside I really felt he was genuine, friendly and honest... qualities that are sorely lacking in not just politicians but people. He will be missed. Plus, watching him get John Baird all riled up in parliamentary sessions was always great.

I respected him as a politician, and believed that he would actually follow through on everything he said. If he said it, he believed it. Now his beliefs did not fall into line with mine, and I think him becoming PM would have been a complete disaster for the country, but I also believe he was there because he wanted things "better" too.
