Makers of the $400 internet-connected device and proprietary juice packets are shutting down. The device was an over-engineered answer to a question no one was asking. The bags were full of already pulped fruit and vegetables that could just as easily be squeezed into a glass by hand. And it connected to the internet for... reasons.

But before I piss on their grave too much, I'm sure someone will repurpose the press for something actually useful eventually.

I never had one, but I doubt I'll be sorry I never got one.

I read about it a month or two ago when it blew up in the tech news as a solution looking for a problem.

I remember the first few times I heard about it I honestly thought it was satire.

The design is interesting.
