[Brazelton] June Foray (Rocket J Squirrel, many more), at 99

Noooooooo! :(
I mean, yes, 99 and a long career is everything you could ask for, but it's still sad. She was a giant in the voice industry, the equal of Mel Blanc, to say the least.

Noooooooo...I mean it was going to happen someday, but nooooo...

She was THE grande dame of voice work, spanning all the way from G to X, and her influence demands she be held in the same regard as people like Lucille Ball or Elizabeth Taylor. That leaves Tress MacNeille as the current greatest living voice actress.

I know I already praised her once, but I just want to add that when people refer to her as the first lady of voice work, they don't mean that she was married to the president of voice work or something, they mean that she was first.

If anyone wants to learn more about June (or really anything regarding tv, animation, and comics in the 70s/80s) I have to recommend Mark Evanier at http://www.newsfromme.com/. He has a few really good stories related to her, but his blog unfortunately just gets overwhelmed with death notices about people in the industry, so you might have to scroll down a bit.
