So I'm currently a contractor for Dow and I drive a train for about 34-36k a year, I applied for a new job where my dad and took the battery test for it today (it was easy, use of information and mechanical aptitude stuff). At the test they said they are hiring 10-15 people. Now if I get this job it will raise my salary from 35ishk a year to about 45k a year, after the first year I'll be at just under 60k a year and after 3 years I'll be at just under 80k a year, that's without working any overtime (of which there is plenty of). There were about 100 other testers including me. I would have to say I'm about 85-90% sure I'll get this job and I so hope I do, my dad said he could get me an interview so that should help a lot. I'll know in around 2 weeks when they get the test results back, cross fingers for me!

Won't know for at least two weeks.

Well, just got the test results back (a week and a half early) and surprise, surprise, I passed (they don't give grades just a pass/fail). I called and told my dad and he said he would call the person that pulls applications for interviews and let them know so they could pull my app out for an interview. So, soon I should have an interview and I think my dad said that's when it's out of his hands, but I still feel pretty confident about it all!

Sure you know already, but don't count on it. It only takes one interviewer feeling off-kilter to make what seems like a shoe-in go badly.

So I foun out who is going to be at the interview. An HR person that is my dads friend, his immediate supervisor, the training person that is directly under him, and one other person he doesn't know but will talk to. Things are looking up! They are hiring 30 total 15 now and 15 in three months. I hope I'm on the first boat
