I was going to say that I feel like written letters are lost to society. I was going to complain that no one appreciates the pleasure of handwriting a page or two and mailing it to a friend, waiting with quiet excitement in the back of their head for it to arrive, and then the reciprocal joy of getting that response: the envelope being torn open and read and enjoyed... Physical evidence that someone cares about you and spent their time on something real.

But then I realised I know all that because I send and receive letters all the time, so clearly it's not lost, and what do I have to complain about?

if i were going to send a letter id probably type it up and print it before sending. It wouldn't be all that much more significant than email sadly.

But don't you see the joy in running a pen along paper? It's lovely. But even in light of typing, should you wish to exchange letters, the offer stands even if typed (though mine will be in gloriously done by hand!)

I'm just really bad at mailing letters out. I love getting mail from my friends in London. I mail back so little that it makes me feel guilty. Damnit... I'm going to write them a letter right the hell now! Thank you, Chad Sexington, for the inspiration.

So I mean yeah, it's not like I put my heart and soul into this. Kinda phoned it in.

I used to be pen pals... and I also used to write letters to my long-distance girlfriend before that went belly up. It was fun.

Nowadays... Yeah, I miss having letters. I kinda hate e-mail because it creates the expectation of instant response. And I hate doing things in a rush.

Might get in on this action later... if I'm starting to feel better. Or if I have something interesting to say. Nowadays most discussions I have revolve around the c-word and its side effects, and I've got plenty enough of that.

Seriously, I had a kind of Finnophile thing going a while back, and I'm always down to hear about foreign countries from folks who live there. It's interesting from both a personal and a sociological standpoint.

Also literally 3 one-cent stamps short of mailing out my letters. Damn you, one-cent...ses.

I just guessed the number of stamps I needed at 3. Here's hoping for the best! Also I'm on page 3 of bumbles so I'll finish it up tonight and mail it tomorrow when I go pick up tips because it's Tuesday and I get my tips on Tuesday which is also an ok day to drink.

phil I have here a collection of index cards and some frenetic drawings that make me want pancakes. So many pancakes.

Sent a couple letters out today, a couple more later this week! Finally found some writin' timeeee.. during work!

Now that I am home I can get in on the letter writing.. or probably more likely card writing but if you want a letter of some sort from a mostly boring person go ahead and pm me your address lol.

You can always take the easy way out and do postcards! It also gives the person something fancy to hang on their wall/shove in their drawer.

Chad, I got your letter! Well I got it a while ago, but I made myself wait to read it until I had the time to write. Now I do! You really have a skill for letter writing. I get self-conscious when I write to people and don't always do well being conversational. I have such poor vision... I needed my little magnifying glass and extra light to read it. Damn my eyes!

The seal was harder than I thought it'd be. I tried to use my High school ring as my stamp but it never worked out quite right. I think i needed to wait until it was solid, but still warm enough to press. I'll try again on my reply when hopefully it's less windy as well.

Wax cools/solidifies pretty quickly, so I wouldn't wait long. I do it while it's still super liquidy and hold the seal for 15-20 seconds... then pull it off and you've got a mostly-hardened, clean imprint. Sealing wax might have different properties than other wax though? I'm not sure. Seems a reasonable assumption, I suppose.

Chad Sexington - I received your letter today! I was very impressed with the sealing wax and use of a fountain pen. They gave the letter a special touch. I should write you back when I have a moment.
