This thread may need a little explaining. There are some odd costumes that just don't belong anywhere else. Cosplay of memes, celebrities, mash-ups and anything else that's funny. Some costumes I'll post here could conceivably be put in another category, but anything that makes me laugh or is heavily pop-culture may end up here.
Star Wars title crawl dress
I love this concept. The opening to "A New Hope" is just as iconic to movie history as any of the costumes or characters, and this dress represents it beautifully. I just noticed her purse says "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."
Westley Crusher
What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good (bad?) pun.
Conjunction Junction - School House Rock
Ah, nostalgia. This costume really made me smile when I saw it, and the song started playing in my head immediately.
The Warrior
Maybe it's because I'm a fan of Spoony and Linkara, but I like this costume a lot.
I ran across an older picture we took, and didn't know where else to put this:
We actually won a Wii in a Nintendo sponsored contest with this. My girlfriend did an awesome job making the costume from scratch. I still feel like an awful person for it though :/
If by 'ruin' you mean 'make it complete', we agree.

I love this cosplay so much:

The above image is a photoshop of the mask that I want to make for Hal-Con this year. Any advice on hows, and what to expect with such an unwielding item?

I'm no cosplayer, but I'm guessing stove pipe from a hardware store, some tinsnips to cut it, and pop rivets.

PatrThom
Yeah. Having that thing bobble around on your head while the inner points of the pop rivets attack your face doesn't sound like my idea of an evening of fun.

Well, you could line it.
#37
AshburnerX
Or just grind the ends of the rivets down.
#38
PatrThom
Or hold the stubs of the rivets IN YOUR TEETH.

It's not too dissimilar from your standard-issue pot helm/barrel helm.
Would you be wanting a roof on it, or could you get away with an open top? The stove pipe route might be too small, depending on the size of your melon...
And you wouldn't even need to use pop rivets... you could probably just get away with painted wood buttons.
I miss the days when TallestSilver posted here. Still, she's fun to follow on Tumblr. Oh, and Wiccan is being played by BuckyBird, he and Silver are friends; I'm jealous of him because he's gotten to meet TallestSilver's hair in person.
I've seen this before, and it's still just as horrifying.

Just Me
As creative as this setup is, and creepy as well, I much prefer this one (probably even the "original", I've seen this on TV and recorded it on video; loooong times ago):

I've seen that sort of thing performed as well, and quite impressively, with 2 people and 7 puppets; both controlling different parts of different puppets, but all of them linked together. It allowed you to really have different choreographies; parts together, parts seemingly out of whack and so on.
And no offense Just Me, but I think this art form dates back from waaayyyy before TV
That didn't help! Just made it hysterical to watch the poor stoned guy miss steps and run into walls and glass doors. Almost made it worth hoisting a 100lb. Shepherd\Elkhound in and out of a Jeep! Almost.
Let me take this opportunity to remind everyone that @TallestSilver is still a HF member, and does an awesome Peeg, among others. Hey, @figmentPez, go see if you can bring her back! (And maybe have her bring LordJazor with.)

So. Apparently somebody hired Korean dance coreography group/instant puberty catalyst Waveya to do a dance routine to Dvorak's Symphony No. 9.
Because if young people don't appreciate classical music, they'll all end up playing bongo drums and join these "Rock and roll" outfits and they WON'T DRINK MILK!

I feel so wrong that I knew who they were by just the video thumbnail.
Wow... maybe it's the music, or they're choice of shoes, but that was some crappy dancing. They have very little rhythm, and have managed to figure out hip-rolls, which took up about 50% of the "dancing". About a 1/3 of the time they're out of sync, which is sad because they're barely moving.

Baby got Bach?[DOUBLEPOST=1398557126,1398556828][/DOUBLEPOST]And in looking for a video to go along with this pun, I found this. Spoilered because probably NSFW.
I think so (the faces are too close to the iconic actors, such as Christopher Reeve, and there's no way they photographed an actor doing Yoda), but the artist is a photographer, and...

...Hmm.

Note that these aren't fakes, or photoshop fantasy: a small army of people, from costumers to cosplayers to models to hairdressers to make-up stylists were involved. So that's not a computer making Leia (Sabine Graissaguel) look like Carrie Fisher, or Superman (Jonathan Tuil) look like Christopher Reeve. That's their regular human faces, transformed with make-up and lighting.
I forgot what subforum it is, it's just the only one that says "mash ups" in my list, heh.

I have a suggestion:
Can we go back and use the thread-tag [cosplay] on all of the threads in this subforum? If you work through the forum posting based on the "new posts" link, the subforum isn't obvious otherwise.

Huh. I don't remember this.
Apparently, Gillian Anderson posed as the character of Morticia Addams back in 1997.
These pictures sure are colorful.

"Don't torture yourself, Mulder. That's my job."
I know this is from a while back, but update. Unfortunately, the company that owns the rights to the Addams Family slapped her with a cease and desist, so there will be no more of them.

Well... as long as she's not making a profit off of an original character. She's not a parody, she's the actual character Wednesday Addams. It's dicey when the character is actually a copyrighted character. I don't think this is clearly fair use. It's VERY unclear if she will be able to reverse this or not, especially when she's making money off a character that is someone else's IP.
Don't get me wrong, I LOOOOOVE that series and I hope it comes back, but it's not nearly as cut and dry as you make it out to be.

- Was she running ads on Adult Wednesday Addams material? Is so, then yes, she's profiting and it needs to come down.
- Does she have merch for the series? Was the copyright holder getting a cut? If she sold t-shirts or whatever and didn't get the rights holder's permission, it needs to come down.
- Are the people who supported her through crowd funding paying her for Adult Wednesday Addams or simply supporting her artistic endeavors? This is actually a fair question that I'm not sure had been addressed in the courts. She got over 15k to support the series, so that could be a problem.
Oddly enough, the work itself is probably the safest piece.
I misread this as Jun, and was really confused, thinking I missed a picture of @Terrik somewhere up there, and thinking all the while "wow, that's a bit inappropriate, isn't it?".

I kinda lost interest in Wapsi a while back, but before I left I did notice that happening. It really sucks because he used to be so good at keeping his characters' builds different.
