The MCU's early strength was its inventiveness and ingenuity. They took these different genres and showed audiences what adding superheroes could do. Ant-Man was a heist film... with superheroes. Captain America was a period World War II movie... with superheroes. You get the idea. There was also the thrill of discovery. New characters were introduced with cameos and we got to look forward to seeing them again in a year or so.This wasn't even fun to angry-watch, and I'm quickly approaching the point where I'm going to write the MCU off entirely. They've totally lost track of what made the movies fun to begin with.
Now it seems like the MCU is on a treadmill. There is no anticipation anymore because we know another movie or Disney+ series is right around the corner. The films aren't BAD. They're certainly miles ahead of most DC movies. But they lack the spark that made the MCU such a novelty.
