Alex Karras passed away today at the age of 77 after kidney failure. He was most famous for being a professional football player in the 60's, playing Mongo in Blazing Saddles, and playing Webster's dad in Webster.

May he rest in peace, and comforting hugs to his family and friends.

Never knew he was Mongo, but he left a lasting impression on me as Squash, the bodyguard to James Garner's King Marchand in Victor/Victoria.

I always knew him as that football player who was suspended with Paul Hornung for betting on football in the early 1960's.
