So when it came for my fiance and I to get married, we decided early on that we wanted a wedding that would be fun and untraditional. I don't know which of us suggested it first honestly, as we both claim to be the mastermind behind the idea that spawned into our very own
Steampunk Wedding.
When the invitations went out our families were not entirely clear on what was expected of them. Much internet searching later, and the majority of them got the idea. There was no pressure to come dressed for the theme, but we're happy that there were plenty of folks who did anyway. My family went completely gung-ho with the idea, which is what I would expect from us nerds. My wife's side of the family were a little scared to leave their comfort zone, but most regret that decision now.
We did most of the planning ourselves, and my Wife was the mastermind behind the majority of the projects, such as our little robot minion table numbers, the tiny chests with chocolate hats and keys, and her handmade flowers.
The wedding and reception were held on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, which we were absolutely sold on the moment we stepped on board. Just the picture opportunities alone would be endless.
During the reception we had magician Pop Hayden perform his wonderfully old-timey themed show.
My outfit and the weapons were bought from the Gentleman's Emporium website. My wife's was dress custom made, though there was a lot of drama involved with that and we eventually had to find another seamstress to fix the mess that the first one had created. Luckily it turned out beautiful.
I'm taking a gamble on how to upload these pics, and hope they all come out viewable.
Enjoy the album!!
