News from the AvP game front...

The fact that this is being done by the same studio that did the rest of the games in the series, I have high hopes for this game.

I'm hoping that they introduce some great multiplayer games. like a horde of aliens against a couple of predators or a small contingent of marines. Take advantage of the expanded amount of players games can have now.

Wait, he's playing a human Bishop?! Damn, i was hoping for some robot-goodness.

Oh, and i never did finish AvP2 with anyone but the marine... got stuck with the Predator when you have to find all your weapons again or the door won't open... just couldn't find the last one, and then i loaned the cd's for C&C Renegade and the guy just didn't bring them back... and back then getting games was harder, i didn't even have a cd writer.

I wonder, would the game still be playable now or would the graphics be too crappy? Off to youtube to find out...

Man, did I ever love AvP2 multiplayer.

Does anyone else still have this game? We could set up a halforums match.

Used to play it at the net café... or was that AvP1? Never managed to learn to play the alien well... i really need to remedy that.

I have no idea whether it was 1 or 2, but I loved the crap out of the multiplayer on one of those games. Would be up for some of that, if I can dig out the CDs. Always played Alien :D

As i recall except for some extra weapons 1&2's MP plays pretty similar... so if you like one you'll like the other.

Is it true on this game they are tying in with the Barbie franchise?

Well ever since they got married the alien keeps insisting they include her in the game. I heard it's driving an edge between him and the predator. Whether or not the marine's drug problem is related is unknown at this time.

Yeah - can't wait. I never did get to the MP portion of AvP - but will for sure this time. It WOULD be pretty cool to have an L4D style survival mode of a bunch of aliens vs a handful of marines.

It did in the old ones. Actually, a better way. All marines start deathmatch..First person to die becomes an alien (this portion lasts about 10 secinds after match start).

At that point ,it is survival. As the alien kills, those victems also become aliens, and when they kill, their victems become aliens too. Last man standing as a marine wins. In AvP2, there was also a moltiing, where with enough kills, your alien morphs to a queen.

Mode is called Survivor, and it is pretty much what we played mp exclusively. Still do, and there are servers active. You should have played the MP more. Fuck it, Once more, I am on my bi-monthly cycle of reinstalling this game and playing it. Who wants to play some AVP2 this weekend?

I probably won't have an internet connection for my gaming rig this weekend, but if i do i'm sure i can dig up a copy of AvP2 from somewhere...

I only played AVP1, scared the bejebus out of me, is AVP2 worth the effort of hunting down?

Only marine is scary, especially because of the motion detector. And yes, AvP2 is a fun game, the only question is if you're able to play a game with old graphics...

Aliens vs. Predator to Remain Uncut in Australia

By Bryn Williams | Dec 18, 2009 Australia will get a full uncut release of Rebellion's new shooter.

It must be the holiday spirit because Sega has been cut a significant break in Australia. We recently reported that Sega/Rebellion's upcoming Aliens vs. Predator was in danger of being refused classification, but word comes in today via IGN Games' Australian editors that the game has been given a MA15+ rating and will be released completely uncut.
\"It is with great pleasure that we announce the success of our appeal,\" commented Darren Macbeth, Managing Director, SEGA Australia. \"We are particularly proud that the game will be released in its original entirety, with no content altered or removed whatsoever.

This is a big win for Australian gamers. We applaud the Classification Review Board on making a decision that clearly considers the context of the game, and is in line with the modern expectations of reasonable Australians.\"
Other games such as Valve's zombie-bullet-fest Left 4 Dead 2 were not so lucky.

The one thing I am loathe to in this game is this: the two wrist bladed loaded predator.

I wish they would release some videos from the aliens or marine gameplay perspective.

I know the predator is the coolest one from this 'universe' but I'm dying to see how they changed the viewing scope of the alien.

Thanks dude I forgot about that one.

Another thing I'm slightly worried about when it comes to the multiplayer side is the 'uberness' of the predator.

That's always been an issue in AVP games, but they've managed to make it pretty balanced in the past. In the single player campaigns, though, playing through the predator scenarios was always the easiest of the three for just that reason.

That being said, I love playing as aliens and sneaking up on unsuspecting people and eating their head.

Same here I hope you get to choose who you want to be in some of the game play modes.

I'm so getting this for the PC now since it'll have dedicated servers.

I don't remember did the Predator have mines in AVP2? Or did they only add it from the AVPR movie? *shudders*

In AVP2 he had the spear, the wrist-blades, the disk, the shoulder cannon, and the medical ability. If I'm recalling correctly, that's all they had, weapon-wise.

I hope they get creative with the multiplayer modes. that was one of the best parts of avp 2. They had the standard deathmatch stuff, but they also added modes that had a distinctly AVP feel to them.
