Oglaf for the week of 3/12

Ok, I'm almost sure the final panel of this week's oglaf is a reference to a previous comic, but help me figure it out. The luck-worshippers previously approached the female bounty hunter for help with their "funpire" problem, but the final panel of THAT episode made it seem like it was all an elaborate ruse for a surprise party... but now we find out the Funpire is real, and can cut off the head of Morag the Immortal (though, apparently, Morag is still technically alive and rather off-put by the experience)...

I just feel like I've forgotten some previous oglaf reference that would tie all this up neatly.

Dude, don't expect anything coherent from Oglaf. The comic ends with either someone getting murdered, or two dudes doing it. It's never been the best on continuity.

Now now, come on. Weird as it was, at least the story about Ivan and the munster and the virgin city had some continuity. I admit it's no Order of the Stick, but in my opinion the story is much more clear than the artist's previous Platinum Grit.

But even I have no idea about the headless Morag, sometimes it's just time to shrug and wait.

Yeah what was up with that punch-line? Was it the cult, is he really immortal I am confused.

I wouldn't say continuity, but it's a veritable plethora of brick jokes. And that last decapitated head panel just felt like a brick I missed being thrown somehow.

The brick may still be thrown in the future.
I also still wait for another appearence by the conquisrador after the fountain of girl incident.
And I'm pretty sure the shape shifters are still out there, as well as the cute ice queen.

And why the heck name a comic after a character that appeared in a one-shot strip? And still there is much more cohesion and continuity than in Platinum Grit...
(Though that wasn't bad either, just very weird and bizarre)

Oglaf was a one-shot character? The author probly thought of the name before-hand and didn't know what to do wit it. Same with "El Goonish Shive".

Yeah, I read somewhere it was supposed to be real honest-to-goodness hand drawn porn which centered around Oglaf, but it quickly degenerated into sex-based comedy randomness. Though I do miss the apprentice arc now that it's seemingly over.

Speaking of the random sex-ness, what is up with online erotica these days? Is it impossible for characters to have normal sex for once? But no, all weird sex curses and yadda yadda yadda. It's really a dying genre.

Normal isn't funny. Insofar as Oglaf goes, anwyay.

Yeah I guess, but I still feel their can good humor made from slice-of-life stuff.

If Oglaf is anything, it is not slice-of life stuff. Better try Girls with Slingshots or Questionable Content for that, though there's not much sex or porn to be found there.

Menage-a-3 has some regular ol' sex in it, but there's a lot of crazy stuff too.

I'm not saying Oglaf should go porn Cerebus syndrome on us, I'm just saying that the genre doesn't have that much in terms of things with real story-structure. And Menages trois is okay, I just felt that some of the characters were a little sexist is all.

Ah, come on! It's "The Archies" with sex and gender confusion issues!

Not much of an Archie man either. Feels too haremy.

I can't understand not liking Menage-A-3. It's literally my second favorite webcomic behind Machismoisthepunchline.

It just has such beautiful art, fun characters, hilarious sitcom-y situations, etc

If your argument is that it's too "harem-y" I dunno what to tell you, that's the point of it.

I just don't harems is all. I find it kind of an out-dated genre. Don't get me wrong, I can see why other people like it it's just not for me. I mean it ain't like it's Shuffle or anything, ugh.

My only gripe with MA3 is I wish she'd drop one or two of her other comics and do more than 3-4 panels per strip. I always feel like there's not enough going on each update, especially since she focuses more on storylines than one-off strips.

I just hope they don't get involved in too many projects so the quality of the comic won't suffer. They are delayed a little too often for my taste in the last weeks; Menage a 3, eerie Cuties and Magick Chicks. And they already outsourced (so to speak) MC to another artist (temporarily at least).
Let's hope they manage it well and can keep it up in their good style.
