So there was this woman named Ashley who got chatting with a guy called Connor on Bumble, which is a dating app. Early on in this coversation Ashley asked Connor what he did for a living. It's a fairly common question between new acquintances. One of those little rituals that greases the wheels of society. Like shaking hands when you meet someone for the first time. Not something you think about, just something you do.
Apparently no-one told Connor this because he proceeded to flip the fuck out over being asked this telling Ashley he doesn't "have time for entitled, gold-digging whores" and that he didn't "prescribe to this neo-liberal, Beyonce, feminist cancer which plagues society".
Needless to say Ashley decided at this point that Connor probably wasn't a good match after all. She also decided to contact Bumble & let them know what happened. And Bumble decided to write an
open letter to call him out on his bullshit & let him know that he is banned from Bumble.
Which is exactly what they should do. They've gone "Oh, you're a dick to our other users? Fuck off then." What they haven't done is let the Internet know who he is. Because if they did then Tumblr would be phoning him, his parents, his work trying to get him fired, and basically try to ruin his life. Which, yeah, he's a dick but he doesn't deserve that.
So, Bumble - Well done, you reacted appropriately, neither ignoring it nor over-reacting.
Ashley - Hope you find someone better than that loser.
Connor - You get to be called a dick by some guy you'll never meet on some web forum you'll never visit.
Good job everyone.
