He was known in Hollywood for always keeping up with people he worked with, calling them on birthdays and holidays every year. Natasha Lyonne kept up with him her whole life apparently, and she shared this story this morning:

His Pee-Wee character was bonkers and great, and he seemed like a sweet dude.

Honestly, I loved it when he popped up in things beyond Peewee. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mystery Men, etc. He was so good, even in cameos. This is going to make me so sad.

I saw his Peewee HBO special when I was waaaaaay too young, but I watched it so many times. I still quote "Pen Pals From Around the World" verbatim.

Buffy movie had his most memorable death scene.

Paul Reubens was the best part of that movie, and I'd say he even outshone Donald Sutherland. My favorite line will always be "He ruined my new jacket! Kill him a lot!"

He would have made an interesting Doctor.
