Funny thing about that. I seem that the "homophobes" are recent things. If you look at history you have different empire that molest same sex all through out the ages. It is until recently that it is consider "bad bad bad"
I am thinking the religious group decides to unit the people with a common enemy to make them stronger. It is true that human nature then to unite when faced against a common foe. Look at the world wars. I remember my prof told me that America wasn't really a high weapon production until after World War I when U.S. was brought into the war. Industry really skyrocket after the Industrial age.
Maybe the religious people feel that same sex tendency is a sin and thus wrote into the book and declare evil. Of course that is my personal opinion with practically no fact whatsoever, but I think it is normal for anyone to have same sex urges, it is just that the society has suppress so many minds and make it "evil" that only a few really express themselves.
that is my take. It is normal and not "evil" I believe it is stupid that people think they are going to be the "bane" of human existence.
To be fair, even in cultures where same sex activity was considered acceptable, normal, and even
expected, heterosexual activity has also been present and/or required. What's different about the homosexuals of the modern, western world, is that they are pursuing a homosexual lifestyle where it is a) atypical of the wider culture, and b) completely
replacing/precluding heterosexual activity. You can't ignore that context, even if you want to declare that the Greeks were so much more sexually enlightened because they let little boys suck them off.
But we are in a modern age. Old cultural norms, like prohibitions against homosexuality, birth control, remaining unmarried, etc. are obsolete. We don't need to have dozens of children each because of a high mortality rate. We aren't fighting tribal wars that require lots of sons to send into the fray.
I won't address religious reasons to fear/hate/disagree with homosexuality, because while I
understand the standpoint of the bible-belt baptist, I do not agree with him. And he isn't going to listen anyways. Unfortunately, the only solution to some generational problems is to wait for the problem generation to die off. Even more unfortunate is the fact that some places ignorance and hatred are bred so strong, it might take a few generations before attitudes thaw. But it will come, I promise you that.
