Sorry, it's not so much the just the people who will post about it, though that does bother me a bit to be sure. Rather the people who boast as if they've made some great contribution are the major offenders in my eyes. Should have been more specific. I do understand that awareness is an issue, especially in some more obscure cases, I just feel there are more productive ways to go about it. At least with poppies and support the troops ribbons you generally have to donate something which both promotes awareness AND helps the cause, however minutely.Well Facebook would be pretty annoying if it were nothing but various groups raising funds. Facebook is a system for interacting with people socially so doing simple social things like that (which I did) makes sense on Facebook. Knowing is half the battle and those little things help with knowing.
If you are at a Child Abuse and Neglect seminar talking about the things people have done to help kids and raise awareness and someone smugly says, "well I changed my profile pic on Facebook", then that's something I would see as something worth getting upset about.
Although I feel similarly about people who shave their heads when someone they know gets cancer. I think that is one of the most absurd things in the world. But whatever makes people feel better I guess.
Also, I'm very sorry for what you're being put through and what your uncle is going through Little Sin.
