Recommend me a PS3 game like fallout 3 or bioshock

It's a first person game, you shoot things. It's a first-person shooter. I could go through Half-Life with the crowbar; it's still a FPS.

If you wanna get technical, any game with a character is a role-playing game, for example, WWE games.

Basically, my point stands, If he's explicitly saying, "I hate FPS's" (Bioshock is a hard duck to peg because it is a genre hybrid) and he gets suggestions of Resistance and Killzone. It wasn't even a rant specifically about this thread, it happens in every single thread about game suggestions.

I can't vouch for other threads, but this one, with it right there strong in the very title, I think people were justified in throwing them out as suggestions.

The main lists in here are for all the decent PS3 games, which includes one or two FPS titles. It's not like PS3 has a large, deep library to pour through for good games.

Yeah... I think getting bent out of shape because of one or two people saying, "Hey he said he hates FPS... but he put one in his title so maybe he would like this one too in addition to these 10 non-FPS games" is pretty silly. I didn't like FPS until I played BioShock. I still don't really "like" them but I have found some that aren't half bad thanks to me enjoying Bioshock. Either way the thread has had tons of great game suggestions and the couple of FPS games like Bioshock that were mentioned are just a part of the "good list of games like Bioshock and Fallout 3" that were asked for.

Either way, good luck on finding some solid games man. Keep us updated on what you play. I hope you like Uncharted and Batman.

When I say I don't like FPS, I really mean I don't like twitch games like Tomb Raider or "waves of bad guys culminating in a boss at the end of the level" games, like Diablo. There are FPS that aren't "twitchy," like Bioshock, games where if you're not all that skilled at scoring headshots while strafing, provide you an alternative way of moviing things forward. I liked Deus Ex, System Shock 2. I guess what I'm looking for is any game where progress is primarily defined by advancing the story, rather than defeating bosses. Bioshock had a few bosses and there was lots of combat, but advancement of the game primarily occurred as you passed through important plot points. Half life was okay but it sort of felt like it was 25% plot and 75% blowing stuff up. I'm looking for the opposite ratio, although if the combat is too easy like in Fallout 3 it can be a turnoff.

And yeah, I just don't have time for multiplayer games. It's actually the ten hours of high quality game play experience I'm looking for. Movies cost $10 and they're only two hours...

Yeah, I'd suggest to pretty much anyone to pick up Batman: Arkham Asylum. It's got a great storyline, great sidelines, too many easter eggs to count, and replayability up the wazoo with the combat and silent predator modes. Also, if you get the PS3 version, you get the Joker content as well.

Hm, Batman. That was tough. You get extra experience points for being able to do the fancy super combo things, or in other words I got majorly penalized for not being a twitch player. Lots of annoying boss fights. I guess now that I understand how everything works I could go back and do it over and have more fun with it, but boy was that annoying.

Well, you know a console is designed for people who like console like twitch games, so what was I expecting?

I played Bioshock 2. That was very enjoyable. Yeah. I liked the strategy elements they built into it, how they made the vita chambers not matter as much. And I can see how I could try different things on the higher difficulty settings.

Did you have a stroke? Arkham Asylum isn't a twitch game. It's brawling combat seemed slow paced to me, though very fitting for Batman's style of thug-abuse.

You, sir, are part of the reason that all video games suck now. You know in Ultima IV you could just leave in the middle of combat and get a sandwich and come back and nuke an orc with a fireball and that text based pixelated low tech piece of shit rawked. Batman sucked in comparison.

I suggest you go play Zork, as apparantly anything above "being able to get a sandwitch in between rounds" is twich gaming to you...

for serious though, if snail's pace action is your cup of tea, I suggest Valkeryia Chronicles.

The Disgaea series is another good one, if you want to sit and think tactically.

I'd also like to point out, for the record, video games were twich based before even text based adventure games came out.

The best thing really is Baldur's gate, where the action happens real time but you can pause it and get a sammich and you are in control of everything that happens. I felt like with Batman I was just randomly hitting the 'x' button and the game was just doing it's own thing.

I'd also suggest Dragon Age: Origins, it's 100% old school RPG capable. You can treat it twitchy, or you can do the old Icewind Dale style.

FFXIII would probably be an obvious choice now.

Another really good JRPG on PS3 that's gone almost completely unnoticed is Eternal Sonata. You can probably find it on amazon for about 25 bucks, and at that price it's definitely worth it. It has a really fun and unique battle system that's a mix of action and turn based, the story is actually pretty interesting, a bit different than your average JRPG tale and it has an awesome classical music soundtrack (which is also related to the story). Also... NO RANDOM BATTLES! Hurrah!
I really don't know why this game flew so far under the radar. It's really pretty great.

Weird, i heard that if you don't use the pause you die, end of story. Then again i have no idea how good at rpg's the people i know who played it are...

Do you have Parkinson's or something? Honest question.

I think it's pretty obvious that he has a sandwich problem.

Zonker, try and be honest now: what's the longest you've ever gone without a sandwich?

Honestly, you could easily get through Arkham Asylum, even if you had parkinsons. Though finessing the most out of the fights takes timing, you can literally button mash your way through just about every fight in the game. The obvious thing that Zonker misses, is that the fighting is only about half the game, if even.
