I liked King Solomons Mine when I was younger. I wonder if it holds up.

They tried so hard to make him Indy and it just didn't work. Loved him in the OG Shogun but can't think of much else. He was a guy that maybe should have been bigger than he was.

Well, they tried so hard to make him Allan Quartermain, who also was the inspiration for Indiana Jones, in what was at least the third re-attempt to film the 19th century novel King Solomon's Mines, buuuuut... yeah. I'd also say that Harrison Ford's Indy made a better AQ than RC's AQ... but it quickly becomes so convoluted as to mirror the much later "Warcraft vs Warhammer" comparison.

Also sometimes I forget that Romancing the Stone was Michael Douglas and not Richard Chamberlain

I loved all these 80s movies; Romancing the Stone included. I totally agree Indy was the best, but these were fun for me at least. But again, I haven't seen them since +2-4 yrs since their VHS releases.

What, no The Thorn Birds ? That thing was huge over here.

Also, i have to disagree, Allan Quatermain is only Indiana Jones if you remove the Han Solo from Indy. In the books the man downplays his skills (besides marksmanship) so much that you actually believe him that he's not a pulp hero.

Incidentally, if this type of story is anyone's bag and they like team-based co-op FPS games, I recommend Strange Brigade.

Thorn Birds was huge here, too.
I really only remember him from Shogun. It's probably the only thing I've seen him in.

You talking Allan Quatermain or forbidden priestly romance ?

It's been a while, so i'm not sure, but i think Thorn Birds came here first, so he was that guy from Thorn Birds when we saw Shogun.

His Aramis in the 70's Three Musketeers movies is what I remember him for, but Thornbirds and Shogun mini-series were huge for him too.

I didn't know he was still alive. I knew him mostly from Shogun and the Quatermain movies.
