I, for the first time in... ever, maybe, I don't usually laugh out loud at comics, but I'm sure I have... ANYWAY, I fucking LOL'd at this strip: http://www.pvponline.com/2009/08/06/no-butts-about-it/

The one after it made me do that, "Heh, that's funny but not that funny" half-smile I do for most every comic I find amusing ever, so that might give you perspective.

Ed has made it pretty clear that Kurtz bashing is not too cool around here. So, I guess I will limit my comments to the strip itself, which is funny from time to time. Kirby and Scratch are always worth a giggle and this strip is pretty damn funny. Unfortunately, it will be a long time before I view material created by teh Kurtz with anything but a jaded eye. Because he's a fucking asswipe.

I am willing to bet that some person came to the PvP site for the first time ever... and the first strip he sees is about a dog asking to eat cat-poo and lick the cat's ass.

That person is either never coming back, or has posted the strip on whatever place coprophiliac furries go to.

speaking of the Kurtz comics. Who won on the "how long the sunday ding" will last poll? Haven't seen one in two weeks. Not that I miss them but I did check to see how long he could keep it up.

I thought it was funny. And I liked the "get help" ending.

And regarding Ding he has put the Sunday strip on hold while he works on a Ding graphic novel.

The guy really needs to pick a side project and stick with it. How long until he puts the novel on hold because he dreamed up some other half-baked project?

Ah, kurtz. The source of some great butthurtz in here. I thought that strip was hilarious. I think most of his strips are hilarious. I think that there has been no significant change in the quality of his strips in the last couple years. I think that most people just suffer from the butthurts and let that influence their opinions.

Or you know, formulate an opinion based on the bad writing, inability to finish an arc and self indulging projects with no future?

How any of that has to do with long lost forums or lack of product delivery is beyond me.

I do enjoy his gaming related strips. But few and far between. The last one where he made me LOL was the one with the clap.

However, PA RARELY makes me not laugh, there are more times than not where I laugh HARD. This one is my fav from them this year.

I wanted to defend Kurtz for a long time, because I met him at an Emerald City Con a while back, and he gave me a free sketch after he'd said he wouldn't do sketches anymore, when I told him I wouldn't be back the next day.

But then I heard him talking in some WW podcasts about some stuff, openly admitting to much asshattery (though he tried to play it off), and I was like, "Yeah. Dude's a huge asshole. Thanks for the sketch and all, but yeah. Asshole."


Still, I can separate an artist from his art, and still manage to enjoy PVP now and then (you know, when it's actually enjoyable).

Even on the PVP forums, his lack of storylining and failure to close were always brought up. I really don't see how it's "he's an asshole so his comic sucks too".

Think it's a reference to the Battlefield games, where one's enthusiasm for piloting aircraft is often inversely proportinal to one's skill with them.

Gabe's in a game, waiting for a plane to spawn.


Plane spawns, but asshat immediately runs up and takes the plane before Gabe can.

Asshat flies into mountain, destroying plane, so Gabe has to wait for another to spawn.

Curiously, I've only played Star Wars Battlefront. The principle's certainly the same, though.

There's just no connection between the panels for the uninitiated. Maybe something indicating that he's waiting for the plane, which suddenly appears. I know now that those little lines are indicating a sudden appearance, but I would've gotten it if there was an SFX or something. I thought they were speed lines. It looked to me like the plane was moving and the other guy was hanging onto the side of it as it moved. I couldn't even tell that was the plane crashing. Maybe if the tail was sticking out of the fireball or something. I would've gotten it right away then.
