So, a friend of mine just stabbed a man...

And then got into a chase with police. And then charged a police officer with a hatchet. And then was shot and killed.

...

.........

What the fuck?

http://www.ocala.com/article/20140303/ARTICLES/140309940?tc=ar

I'm having real trouble processing this. We were best friends since the sixth grade, but the last couple of years, after his dad died, he just kinda fell off the planet and no one knew where he was. He was always a little mentally unstable, and he once stopped talking to me for a month because I suggested he should talk to a doctor about possible schizophrenia.

Shot multiple times? Damn. You'd think 1 would be enough.

You should call police and talk to them about your relation with Michael.

Then I would become that stereotypical friend that goes on the record saying "He was always a little weird."

Honestly, unless they put out a call for people with information, I'd not really bother...

Damned shame to hear about your friend, though. I'm sorry, brother.

Yeah and?

They need answers, the random dude who got shanked needs answers.

I've been left with the impression that the police stop digging for answers once the suspect is dead, unless there's a reason to think shooting him wasn't on the up and up.

Sorry about your friend, Poe.

Honestly, from what the reports say so far: that he didn't know the man he stabbed, that he charged a police officer wielding a hatchet, I think this was either some sort of psychotic break, or suicide by cop.

Sorry to hear this, man. Think he was pulling a suicide by cop?

That sucks.

I had a friend that went off the deep end. Details are pretty horrifying:

He's right if you are even remotely in the position where you could be charged. The police will even tell you this. But just as a material witness or character witness, you can certainly talk to them.

I don't want to talk to you, either. Hmph.

Nope, he said NEVER. Like ever ever.

The trolling worked guys. Let's get this relatively back on track.

Sorry poe. Try and remember him how he was, rather than what he became at the end. And don't get obsessed with regrets on if you could have done something. You tried, and while you can always say what-if you'd done more, you did SOMETHING and that counts.

Ok, so the crazy just keeps coming.

Unknown to me and most of his friends, he had a secret secondary facebook page, under a different name, full of conspiracy theories.

This just gets sadder and weirder.[DOUBLEPOST=1393901331,1393901270][/DOUBLEPOST]... and a secret youtube channel

So, I hope you guys don't mind if I just use this thread to vent... I'm reading more and more now that I've found the stuff he was in, and the aliases he used, and... he really went off the deep end. Conspiracy theories galore. He used the alias Thomas Brinkley, and here is his last youtube video.

He also has several postings where he believes the government is trying to kill him.

Not clicking those links before bedtime, but I'm sorry this happened, Poe.

I am so sorry.

I see things like this and my heart just breaks. Maybe I am just a bleeding heart but... I'm sorry

I think what surprises me most is just how off the deep end he was. I always knew he was disturbed, I had no idea he was king of mount crazy. Now that I know his alias, I just keep finding more and more and more, he thought he was somehow connected with the Batman killer, he thought police were after him, he thought the government had the ability of mind control... there's so much crazy it's hard to sort through. The last time I talked to him, I told him how concerned I was for his mental health, and asked if he would let me take him to a doctor, I thought he was schizophrenic. After that he just vanished, and apparently this alias is what he started going by.[DOUBLEPOST=1393903758,1393903461][/DOUBLEPOST]He believed there was an assassination attempt made on him with a 'heart attack gun'

Another video that gives a disturbing look into what was going on in his mind. I'm going to start spoiling these, because... they're kinda unsettling.

Wow, Poe, I'm sorry to see you lost your friend. Those videos are eerie.

I regret not pushing harder to convince his family to baker act him. At the time, though, I didn't think he would be a danger to others, only possibly himself. But his mom had just lost her husband, and having someone tell her that her son was crazy wasn't exactly helping her there. After that he vanished, and it wasn't until now that I found out what he was doing all that time.

I even found one of his videos where he describes the government brainwashing his friends and family into trying to baker act him, so they could lock him up "in a concrete room." I think he might have been talking about this same event, and broke off all contact with me because he thought I was being mind controlled.

I'm sorry, Poe. It's hard looking back and thinking about what you could have done. Don't beat yourself up...it can be so hard to know how To approach things like this, or to know if you're doing the right thing.I feel for his mother--a husband and a son lost? If you still have any contact with her at all, a call or a visit might be a nice gesture. She's going to have a hard time with this, I'm sure.

Cravey is now trolling me from beyond the grave. After watching all of his youtube videos, "youtube recommends" is now nothing but crazy conspiracy theories.

That magnificent bastard.

#30

Frank

Frank

Whoa, schizophrenia.

Sorry dude.

#31

Ravenpoe

Ravenpoe

I was having a good day today, until someone at work bought a newspaper from me, and I saw Cravey's face plastered all over the front page.

Fucking media vultures. They love speculating like he was some proto-serial killer. They also mention his mom a few times in the article, which really upset me. She's going through enough without newspapers adding to the speculation.

#32

Ravenpoe

Ravenpoe

So, as my 30th birthday winds down, I can't stop thinking that not only am I turning 30 today, but it's also now a year since Cravey was killed.

This is just a reminder to everyone that mental health issues are serious, and must be taken seriously. If you know someone that needs help, do everything you can to get it for them. Ignoring it won't go away, telling yourself it's none of your business won't make it go away, and even if it seems like it may cost you a friendship, it'll be worth it if it can lead to them getting help.

I backed off after Cravey pulled away. The day I told him I thought he was suffering from schizophrenia is the last day he truly talked to me. After that, I decided to let him be, and a year later (possibly two... I'm bad with time) he was dead.

Unfortunately, you can only help up to a point. My brother's fiance is the sister of one of my best friends from childhood. He has since gone well off the deep end, going off the grid, living in a van, talking about people coming after him.
I haven't really talked to him since graduation, but now that I'm in regular contact with his sister, I feel really bad for her. She has tried to reach out to him and help him, but at some point, she just had to wash her hands of the situation. She wants to help him, but she has no real way of doing it.

Also, my uncle started getting schizophrenia which was more than likely drug induced. My mother had to have him committed for a while. It ruined her relationship with her brother, but she was the only person in the family who had the fortitude to do it.

It's bad all around.
