So there's been a shooting at the University of South Carolina

Both @dill616 and my father work there. Thankfully, it was not in the building either of them work in and both are fine.

It apparently was a murder-suicide and is now over, but for an hour or so there was very little information and I was very worried.

Been there, done that. Remember when Sammi was locked down during a school shooting at her school? Glad everyone is okay but man does that feeling suck.

Okay now THIS made me laugh. Apparently there's a person at the University who thought they'd use the emergency exit that they have in their office. They'd never opened the door before because there was no need. So today they did and they found this:

Word is now that the situation was a professor's ex wife came and shot him, then herself.

Man, if every professor's wife or husband killed the professor for having an affair with a student, we'd have no professors.

The assailant was his ex-wife. They had been living together despite being divorced until recently. She had a habit of showing up to his classes as well and students had described her as, "scary."

It's not actually a fire exit, as I understand it. There was a reddit post about it on the day of the shooting, and a firefighter responded to say that it's not an exit, it's just a way for the fire department to access otherwise closed-off portions of the building, an that they don't care that it's cemented over, because it's a thin coating that can easily be broken with their axes.

Yeah, it doesn't say exit, it just says fire department access.
