They said a long time ago that the game would have a "quasi-LAN". It's not going to be free and open like normal LAN, but you can start a game on Battle.net and it will utilize your LAN for the connection rather then routing through the Battle.net servers themselves. Whether this is actually in the game or not now, I have no idea, as I have not utilized LAN since I was going to LAN parties in high school almost ten years ago.

In the end, you will have to log on to Battle.net to play. Yes, I think it sucks, but I am hopeful that when they release the chat room patch they will at least give us an offline mode for the single player. I could care less about the LAN really.

I swear, Supernova is the hardest fucking mission in this whole game. Even on normal, I restarted 5 times, because of not being able to make forces fast enough, or not having enough minerals, etc, etc, etc. I finally beat it by having a giant raid of Mercs, Banshees, Vikings, and Vultures.

Really, so far I've found on normal, all you have to do is build whichever special unit you get for the mission. Supernova, I built nothing but Banshees and supplemented them with merc Vikings. Didn't use anything but my starport.

The raddest mission so far is easily the last Ihan crystal mission. That was fucking awesome.

The last Ihan crystal one took me a while to figure out, I thought I had failed at 1495, but luckily there were no overseers left, and Zeratul was still alive, so he just chopped away at Hydralisks, and Zerglings until it reached 1500. After the cutscene, an overseer showed up, and he got destroyed.

Kinda dissappointed about
Tycus's betrayal

It was built up throughout the game and it all makes sense but the payoff was lackluster for what was hinted at in the opening cutscene and multiple times throughout.

Also I thought that the story could have been tightened up. The first 2/3rds of the game feel like you're kind of wandering around with no real goal. Sure free some political dissidents here, broadcast something against Mensk there save a colony here. But there didn't see to be any kind of strong link between the various storylines. No real story combining them. The finale was amazing and I loved the gameplay but the wandering part seemed like it should have been tightened.

What ties the parts are that the people know of you, and are asking of your help. Tycus and Matt out of the way, Ariel wants you to help her save her colonists, because the Dominion won't, and Gabriel asks your help, because in the end he wants you to help with the Spectres, if you choose.

I get why people want your help it's just that there was no real overarching theme throughout the stories no ultimate link back to the main plotline.

The scientist refugees for example. You save them and they found a new colony and they just leave. No real effect on the story except for the creds and units you gained from their missions. Same thing with Matt's missions you feel a great accomplishment and it doesn't effect the story in any way.

I guess my annoyance is that I was expecting something like Snatch or Crash that would bring the storylines together in the end for an ending that was built up to and acknowledged that I finished off all the other mission lines. But there wasn't anything like that just 4 storylines that start in the same place and don't intersect beyond that.

Yeah, after finishing it, I can definitely say, without doubt, the last Ihan crystal mission is the best.

Best last stand mission I've ever seen in a video game. Every time you think you're going down for the count, a new Protoss hero shows up with help and new units.
