Among the many new shows that Amazon has been developing, it looks like The Tick may be revived as one of their shows, with Patrick Warburton reprising his role as the Tick and series and comic creator Ben Edlund writing and producing.

I'd be more excited if it were the animated series, but this is cool too. I love me some Patrick Warburton.

That series was WAY ahead of its time. Though I can't help but worry that it won't be very good this time around. Still willing to give it a chance.

Who puts gum on a roof?

What I mean is, I'll watch and love the next 6 episodes that get made before it gets cancelled.

I'm not so sure it'll get cancelled if given a chance. I mean, look at some of the hits on Adult Swim...

- A parody series focusing on the lives of a former child adventurer and his friends/family, trying to live their lives and do the right thing in a world that is post optimism (The Venture Brothers) (Rusty used to be a horrible person... I'm not sure I'd say the same now)

- We Are Spinal Tap meets Death Metal, with a slowly unfolding story about an apocalyptic event that only these guys can prevent and bonds of brotherhood forged in the music industry (Metaloclypse) (Seriously... the Doomstar Requiem made it clear what the show is REALLY about)

- A claymation show that uses the trappings of Davey and Goliath to comment on conservative christian culture that eventually starts talking about all the GOOD things in said religion, morphing into an epic redemption story in it's final season. (Moral Orel) (Seriously... the Reverend learning to accept his gay daughter after years of estrangement was amazingly uplifting)

NONE of that would have possible pre-2000. And now one of the current big hits on AdultSwim is essential Friday, but starring Jesus. Does The Tick seem so weird in retrospect?
