(Team Fortress 2) Halforum Gaming Nights

I feel that we should have some TF2 gaming nights where we can play with specifically against other members of this forum. Ideally, this would be on a passworded dedicated server running a "theme" for the evening.

Someone did mention someone had a server just for this purpose, what are the details of this server?


And some general questions I'd like to ask :


- How often would you feel this should happen? I feel that once a week would be pretty cool.

- What nights should this be reserved to? I feel that a Friday evening would be best suited for this as people may be busy during Sats and Suns.

- What time should this be held (Eastern)? I think that 8PM Eastern for "official" starts would be pretty cool and would allow people in the Pacific time zone to be available as well.

- What theme would you like the server to use for the first night? (aka CTF... control points... etc)
 

Would you mind a total noob joining up? I'd be for this as long as you didn't make TOO much fun of me!

crimsonsoul owns one. it's pretty good, me and 4 of the halforum crew played there once.

cant remember the details offhand, but they are in crimson's sig.

What does his server run? Any customs? What is the map rotation? Mods/Tweaks///etc

Is he able to slap up a password protect on the gaming nights?

Thanks to the Ambassador, I've completely switched "main class" to Spy so I'd be happy to pop a few heads of fellow forumites. The last time we did hold one that I attended, it was quite the lovely bloodbath.

I can tell ya unless there are regular spy sweeps an EXPERT spy can wipe a team out VERY fast.

Oh yeah. More than once I'd be going down a corridor and pass *myself* going the other direction. Then I was backstabbed. :Leyla:

I'm getting better with the Pyro. As in I'm near a 1:1 kill:killed ratio.

probably should toss in some time frame first.

What days are good for everyone? The game matches are pretty short. What type of map do everyone wants to play in?

Grabbing intel? (capture the flag only 1 map. 2fort) pretty fun for defense and offense

Payload? I love this one since escort missions are nice and you have like 4 maps I think.

Capture point? I do like short capture point like Egypt. It is 2 point (capture 1st and then 2nd while the other team defend)

Each game is about 20-30 minutes depending on what we do with short timer (unless extended by admin/mod)

Weeknights around 8pm? till 9pm? We can do it multiple days or have a gathering at least twice a week? one on weekend and one on weekdays? (to cover most people)

Spent a couple hours tonight with Den, Ed, and Ash (I'm sure I may have missed one). absolute blast.

One round we ended up splitting teams, me one one side and the others not. Still had fun. :twisted:

Crimson's server had been empty for some time lately, now I can't get it to add to my favorites list. What's the status, Gladys?

If we can manage a server, we could set a gaming night, with no curfew... something like starting time of 8PM eastern on Friday nights.
