Basically, TF2 just went microtransaction... I think. It even seems you'll be able to sell items you've crafted/found in-game for real money... I'm so confused.

Five new item sets for Soldier, Scout, Pyro, Sniper and Spy. Where are my new Medic items Valve? Medic equipment offers the least variety in gameplay of any class.

Item sets provide additional bonuses when worn together.

There have also been new non-polycount pack items added as well. Someone on the Penny Arcade forums claims these are some of them:
Rocket Jumper: A practice rocket launcher, does no damage to you or to enemies and has a double sized clip
Gloves of Running Urgently: 30% run speed increase, -50% damage done, -6 health per second while the weapon is up. (Heavy Boxing Gloves with flames painted on them.)
Frying Pan: Appears to just be a standard melee weapon. For soldiers and demomen.

I miss when Team Fortress was a simpler game without all this hat and crafting nonsense.

So basically players who PLAY a lot can get a cut on items they find and sell? I can see Shego is gonna bank on this one
I kinda miss when it was possible to know what you're up against just by seeing a class's silhouette. Now there are even more possible weapons, and even more guesswork to try and figure out what strategy to use.

Well, the TF2 wiki seems to be overloaded at the moment, but these may be recipies for crafting some of the new items:
Scout
Mad Milk = Jarate + Reclaimed Metal
Shortstop = Force-A-Nature + Reclaimed Metal
Holy Mackerel = Sandman + Reclaimed Metal
Soldier
Black Box = Direct Hit + Reclaimed Metal
Battalion's Backup = Buff Banner + Reclaimed Metal
Pyro
Degreaser = Backburner + Reclaimed Metal
Powerjack = Axtinguisher + Reclaimed Metal
Sniper
Sidney Sleeper = Huntsman + Reclaimed Metal
Darwin's Danger Shield = Razorback + Reclaimed Metal
Bushwacka = Eyelander + Reclaimed Metal
Spy
L'Etranger = Dead Ringer + Reclaimed Metal
Eternal Reward = Cloak & Dagger + Reclaimed Metal

I finally managed to get into the store... and prices are ridiculous. The new polycount pack hats are $17.49 a piece! I can buy a real hat for that!

As I said: simpler.
And yeah, those prices are ridiculous. I don't see myself returning to TF2 anytime soon. What I used to enjoy about it has slowly petered out.

CRAFTING IS BUGGED!!! DO NOT CRAFT!!!!
I was trying to craft the new sniper rifle, and I lost a Huntsman because the crafting only recognized the reclaimed metal I had put in. I got three scrap, and my huntsman disappeared.
EDIT: Other users are reporting the same thing on the Steam forums.
Yeah, it is that bad. When players who either spend an insane about of effort collecting/crafting/trading items (or Spend $20+ to buy) can get an extra bonus (with no drawback) to sets that people who don't have all the items don't have access to, that's bad.
Consider this, two scouts face off:
Scout 1
Shortstop
Milk
Bat or Fish
Most Hats
Scout 2
Shortstop
Milk
Fish
Milkman Hat
Scout 2 has +25hp Advantage just because he's spent money or more time idling. Valve's solution? Make a blueprint for the hats that are part of the set. That doesn't fix the problem Sure, it helps close the gap between hardcore fans and someone with money to burn (or people who think they do) but it doesn't help more casual players who don't have inventories stocked full of extra weapons to craft.

I disagree, because I don't play this game to worry about whether or not the other guy has a stat boost. I just play to have fun, and that fun element is still there for me. I just got done playing for an hour and people were still having fun chatting while blowing each other up. Nothing was turned upside down in our game and no one dominated us due to their items (despite the fact that a few people had purchased complete sets). This was on a completely random pub server, too.

Oh, and the Medic gets thrown a bone. The Vita-Saw. You give up 10 health in order to retain up to 20% ubercharge after your death. Interesting trade-off (and it looks like a Little Sister's Adam extractor) but it's just another saw for the Medic, who continues to have the least varied gameplay of all the classes.
EDIT: Yes, Medic is my most played class, and I enjoy it. However, very few people play Medic at all. So I'm often left loosing if I want to play another class, or winning if I switch back to Medic. (That's only a slight exaggeration, a good Medic can sway the game significantly, but sometimes it just turns loosing into loosing less badly.)

Too much WoW in my TF2.

I dunno, I thought I'd be against this kind of update, but I actually find I'm okay with it. It adds variety to a game that could have easily grown stale and died long ago.
As for not knowing what strategy to use when facing an enemy, I do see what you mean, but I find my strategy works all right: Shoot him.
(Unless I'm a spy, in which case I stab him. Or an engineer, in which case I build something which will shoot him. Or a medic, in which case I heal the guy who will hopefully be shooting him)
Unless you're a soldier up against a Demo w/ shield. That thing nerfs explosive damage so much it's better to run away.

Headshot proof Snipers? Well there goes any of the limited use I had for the Ambassador.

From the Official Team Fortress 2 Wiki
Undocumented changes in the Mann-conomy Update
* Removed the cooldown timer from the Sandvich and the Dalokohs Bar when eating.
* The Tippler's Tricorne is now class colored instead of black.
* A green number shows up by your health bar when you pick up health now.
* A little plus sign particle appears in the spot you picked up health.
* Fixed taunt glitch involving switching weapons quickly.
* Added new currently unused "Hi-five" taunts for Demoman, Heavy, Medic, Pyro, Scout, Sniper, Soldier and Spy.
* Scottish Resistance now fires 25% faster and has a .2 second longer bomb arm time. (Total bomb arm time is now .8 seconds.)
* Added option to to enable sound when TF2 is running at background.
* Pyro's Airblast pushes grounded stickies approximately twice the distance now.
If this refers to the glitch that allowed you to taunt with the wrong weapon (such as the heavy spinning his minigun around his finger) then BAH I SAY! BAH!!!

Someone on the Steam forums says they emailed Robin Walker about it, and got a reply saying the "fix" was unintentional and that the bug might be re-implemented.

Ha! If only this were part of the official update. The VS Saxton Hale Mod:
The entire blue team is replaced by the singular Saxton Hale, who gets more health the more opponents he has, and beats the other team with his bare fists.

I've got Mad Milk and a Holy Mackerel to trade if anyone is interested. I'm looking for a Scotsman's Skullcutter or Jarate, and most of the new weapons.

Well, the Mad Milk and Holy Mackerel are traded away, and I got my Scotsman's Skullcutter. I don't think I've got anything worth trading anymore. I guess I'll see what drops.
