I remember the time in Thailand where the water was like 4 feet HIGH above ground (where I live) we had sandbags at the gate of the house surrounded by 12 feet 1 foot thick concrete walls. So the house was relatively dry (after removing the water from the initial flood)
Interesting thing is that our neighborhood (I wish I remember the name) that 1st floor are usually concrete base so it didn't have water damage.
