Okay I know most players take games seriously but this is just fucking retarted.

I was on a match earlier tonight and was doing moderatly well. Most of the players were doing fine.
There was this one asshole on a mike who kept wanting to kick people for not doing well in his opinion.

Now I consider myself to be a fairly seasoned player albeit not in Left 4 Dead.
This asshole on a mike kept telling people what to do or where to go. Then probably about the 3rd
round he starts making fun of me and says 'You should just quit because your going to get voted off.'

I guess right now I'm fuming and a bit insulted. I'm currently re installing TF2 on my Steam account instead.

I'm currently taking a hiatus from console playing to getting back into the groove of online PC gaming. If
this is what most PC players are like then fuck that.

At least with console players if you have moronic players you can tk them or ignore them and still have a fun time.
Just feels with Left 4 Dead there is this self righteousness with players on there. I always wanted to try the game;
but now I just don't think so.

I don't even remember this much fuckery in the Battlefield series despite having lousy teammates.

When requests pop up in WoW trade chat looking to fill out a PUG raid, it's always demanding gear score, achievement, and telling you where to "report for inspection".

So naturally I post about starting a Hogger raid, demanding DNA swab, sperm and stool samples, Congressional nomination, and a letter from their priest. That seems to shut up the uber-demanding jerks for a few minutes at least. :devil:

Okay thanks guys. This is probably another reason why I don't do mmo's. I think with PC I'll stick to rpg's now. Just sighhh. :(

In WoW it was always annoying to have some guy telling everyone what to do in a battleground, especially when it was horrible advice.

blackcat: there WILL always be people who are a-hole. I say just keep playing. If others think you are doing well, then no worries. OR you could vote him off first ;)

Well I've come across probably 4 to 5 games like that thus far. So ave roir for now with Left 4 Dead and hello TF2 again.

Tf2 has JUST as many assholes. You simply never notice them because the teams are much larger, so they don't stand out as much.

You can mute people in TF2, unless there's a server mod or a hack preventing it. I usually do that to the people who think they know it all.

No, mister Thinks-He's-So-Good-With-Heavy, I will not go Medic just so you'll have your own personal source of healing. We already have two Medics and I'm the only Engineer, so who's going to build teleporters for you?

Except the entire other team would be going for the skull. But yah, folks wil sometimesl be jerks no matter the platform or game unfortunately.

BlackCat: are you playing campaign or Versus? If you are doing verses, I highly recommend that you run regular campaign (normal and easy) a bit and know your layout of each map (that is a must). This will help you place your infected when playing versus. Next, don't worry about what people say when you play especially as infected. Just play. I personally never left a game yet (voted off yes but not left a game) when playing VS cause it is always a good practice to play each infected class. Get use to each type and try to know the strength and weakness of each type (kinda like getting a feel for them) I am VERY weak with jockey (hard to control sometimes) and Charger and hunter (can never really do double wall bounce or get that REALLY high pounce damage) but that is all practice. You can't practice normally as infected unless you play Versus (kinda sucks)

Heck, I consider myself a decent player and I still get yell at by these "elite" players. If they vote me off, I just join another game :)

Assholes are everywhere they have a chance to congregate.

TF2 might be better because of the size of the teams, but the assholes will still be there.

I understand the GS thing in WoW, really, because nothing fails faster than an ICC raid with inappropriately geared people. But people put waaaay too much stock in it. And the achievement thing is just fucking stupid.

Either do one of two things:
(1) Play only with friends.
(2) Find a new game.

Alternatively, you can always do what I try to do and one-up them to get them to shut up.

OOOO, I was playing the other night, we were doing the finale in the house while you wait for the rescue vehicle. I had the most assists and kills and those douchebags left me behind.

Did the rescue arrive while you were down? If so, I can't really blame them. It summons that never ending horde and a Tank to finish you off if you don't get to the rescue fast enough. It's really hard to get someone up from that.

No, I was up and almost to the vehicle and they shut the door in my face, just as a tank came up behind me and knocked me down. It was particlarly douche-baggy because I had been keeping those chuckleheads alive the whole time.

You can't manually close the door to the rescue vehicle. You either get on, or it leaves without you because you've been taken down.

For the OP: Get some friends to play with regularly, or learn to let it go. People are jerks on the internet, but don't let them get to you. Just move on.

Yea. All the campaign (if I remember correctly) if all "standing" members are on the vehicle (boat, cars, armored car, chopper etc) The vehicle will take off if anyone else is down. So if you are down, they have to bring you up first.

That's gaming with strangers for ya. It's why I only game with people I know, or in the case of MMOs, I'll only be in a guild if I'm the guild leader.
