The Disney Thread: For Everything Concerning the House of Mouse

They've also announced a live action Lion King....which I'm sort of on the fence about. I dunno how much that's going to work, really.
Yeah, the idea of a live-action Lion King is one I don't have a lot of faith in. In addition to already being really good, it's all animals. At least The Jungle Book has Mowgli has a human figure. Why make The Lion King live-action?

Now, a live-action Mulan film? That's one where I could see a live-action version working well.

I'd be more on board with this if there wasn't already several Chinese live action adaptions of the work already. Some of them are even good.

Unless they adapt the broadway musical, I can't possibly see it being anything but animated. Just with computers, lots of green screen, and an unnecessary high budget.

Yes and no. He's been doing a lot of voice-acting lately (he's been popping up on a lot of Li'l Z's shows, like Tree-Fu Tom, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, the Dragons series), but he's still filming things like Broadchurch for BBC.

Does he have a little one of his own right now?

If it makes you feel better, Andrew Stanton, co writer of all three movies and and upcoming forth one, calls bullshit. The article got this update:

Update: Looks like his word might not be enough. Andrew Stanton, who co-wrote all three Toy Story films (and the upcoming fourth film), has disputed Mozart’s claim, calling it “complete and utter fake news.” Now, it’s possible Ranft had his own origin for Andy’s dad that wasn’t shared with the others, but that’s not something that can be verified. In any case, Mozart’s story looks to be his own. We’ve reached out to both Stanton and Mozart for more information.

Why would the *star* of the show be the only one who wasn't a mass produced toy? Why would all the sidekicks get made and sold before the title character even gets prototyped?

D23 Expo officially starts today, major announcements expected tomorrow (rumored Tron Lightcycle coaster for Magic Kingdom at WDW, replacing Great Movie Ride with a Mickey Mouse themed ride at DHS, New country in the World Showcase at Epcot, new ride at France Pavillion at Epcot). Last night was the preview night, featuring a Star Wars presentation of the model for the Star Wars lands at WDW and Disneyland.

You know what that means...someone will edit them both together into a single 4hr movie.
I wonder if they will be hampered by the death of Elizabeth Peña.

I hope they keep all the Art Deco stuff.
I mean, the "live action" stuff should stay "live action," but keep all the magazines/posters/"flashbacks" as Art Deco, yes please.
