Fuck man, so that's what it was. I just finished watching the episode in question and it was fucking ridiculous. One of the episode's main premises WAS muhammad and not being able to show him, but they clearly wrote the script being able to MENTION him. But worse than the constant muhammad-bleeping was the fucking ending speech! Why the hell did they bleep that out!? I thought it was a joke at first but it certainly failed all comedic timing after 40 seconds of straight bleeping... why the hell did Comedy Central bleep THAT out?!

I have a compulsion to write or draw the prophet Muhammad as a rhinestone cowboy.

Spineless cowards (the network, not Matt & Trey). I hope they put up the uncensored version on southparkstudios.com.

You aren't as anonymous as you think on the internet. The means are there to track down those who make death threats. I, for one, find the concept of censoring to appease islamist boogeymen abhorrent.

At least Cartman's line about people giving more of a shit about who his dad was than about Muhammad made it in.

But yeah, that entire episode is a testament to the current spineless state of media.

What Gas said basically. I cannot imagine this was the first time they've gotten a death threat over something they did in South Park, yet because of the whole Muhammed thing suddenly everyone is crapping their pants and covering their asses. It's pathetic.

http://tv.yahoo.com/south-park/show....en.reuters.com-20100422-us_southpark_muslims

It was a US Muslim group that did a round about threat, basically linking to another person who was assassinated because of something about Islam, and that they wouldn't want that to happen to him. Also supposedly putting pictures of their houses in Colorado up.

I´m still not sure that this is anything other then a joke on the part of Parker, Stone and Comedy Central. They censored the episode to get more media attention and boost the ratings, they then blame it on Comedy Central to spare P&S from any fan fallout.

All the censor ship in the episode felt like it was planned for its comedic value.

Well it's not funny then, that whole speech thing was just annoying with the long, constant, high-pitched bleeping.

You know what sickens me the most about this? That Muslims are upset about having the image of their prophet portrayed... and not the innocent blood that is shed in his name. Seriously... get your fucking priorities straight.

This seems a bit of an assumption, are you saying that every Muslim that is upset about the image of him being displayed is cool with the violence, or are you saying that no Muslim is upset about the violence? I am confused.

I'm saying that it's awfully petty of some in a religious group to pick this as the thing to threaten violence over, when they have other things that should be focused on first. Kinda like how some Catholics are up in arms about homosexuality, when their children are getting rapped by the leaders of their congregations.

It's not all of Muslim, though, Ash. Just certain sects of it. There's many that don't believe in killing themselves, either. But, like Christianity, there's different beliefs from various split-off groups.

I mean, heck, Chrisitans? Just look up The Crusades.
Wiccan? Wiccan is a beautiful belief in nature, yet it gets treated like devil worship.

Anyway, I'm not honestly not pissed about this. Then again, I haven't seen the episode. I would say it's safer than being sorry about whatever reprocusions there could have been.

I never said all, only some. I'm not so ignorant to claim ALL Muslims as this group.

Still doesn't make sense, Catholics can be both against homosexuality and the rape of children by priest. So I fail to see how that is even a correlation to anything.

Unless you are stating that they are against homosexuality and aren't prosecuting the priest and whoever else, which still doesn't make any sense since you could just as easily state, "are against evolution but are letting children get raped".

I saw the censoring, especially the part at the end as a take that to all the censoring going on... especially the censoring of the speech, which was saying that we're stopping people from learning any good lessons etc. (plus, they probably didn't wan to bother actually coming up with a good speech).

Its not so much not prosecuting as it is trying to sweep it under the rug, or even better, trying to blame homosexuality for it...

And the official church stance isn't against evolution...

I think the official stance is that they don't know if Evolution is how it happened or not, but if it is, it doesn't preclude divine involvement. I'm fine with this compromise.

As I said, Comedy Central being cowardly. As of last night, all that was up at southparkstudios.com was a notice that "we don't have network approval to stream this episode yet, sorry.. we'll try to get some version (emphasis mine - GB) of 201 up as soon as possible.

I didn't realize they had so little control over their product. I'm thinking this might figure in to their contract renegotiations. At least I hope it will.

I am not directly picking on you with this Nick.

But I am Fucking Sick and Tired of people mentioning the evil of the Crusades, with out mentioning that they were in retaliation of the war waged on Christian Nations by Muslims. Egypt, Byzantines, Spain were all invaded first.

Was Egypt even christian at that time?!

Plus, the 1st Crusade happened after centuries of Muslim conquests, so is was hardly a direct response.

Egypt was a part of the Roman and Byzantine Empires. And is where the Bible was written.

No one said they were fast... It was also because of the restrictions to travel/pilgrimages.
