On June 30th, the first 'live' server will be opened to the public. SunCrusherStar Wars Galaxies (SWG) is a MMORPG, based on the Star Wars Universe. The original idea for SWG was not to live the iconic movie life of Star Wars, more so, it was designed to allow the player to create a character in the Star Wars Universe, pick their own path and live their dreams. From the onset, SWG was a huge success with a large fan base. SWG was not designed to be based on iconic characters. The iconic characters (Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, etc.) flowed around the players, but the players were merely citizens of the Star Wars Galactic Universe. A player could choose to join the Empire, the Rebellion, or just live a life and preferring not to become involved in the Galactic War that was raging around them. Pre-CU was a true sandbox, no linear content and no levels. Game-play was completely left up to the player and what they wanted to do.
MEEEEEEE!!Cuyval Dar said:To preempt any discussion of this, SWGEmu is completely legal. They do not use Sony's server code in any way.
There is no pirating of any kind going on here. This is unlike private/emu servers of any other commercial game.
The SWGEmu team has been creating their own implementation of a Galaxies server prior to the Combat Upgrade (CU) and the New Game Enhancements (NGE). In addition to fixing bugs that Sony ignored, they will optionally include different server features (Too many to list here) for those who want them, and new content.
The developers will host a 'pure' or 'vanilla' server, but allow other groups to modify the code for their own purposes.
A little background on the game for those unfamiliar with it.

I know that there must be some of you tired of [insert MMO here], so if there is any of you interested, hit me up here or in a PM.
It would be incredible to form a guild/player city with a number of forumites.

I still probably have my discs around somewhere...

This topic has done to death on the SWGEmu forums. This is NOT a private server. It uses no Sony server code at all. Private servers use stolen/leaked/hacked server code. The SWGEmu project has taken so long because they are creating the server code from scratch.Mav said:uh guys..this is highly illegal.. are we trying to get Ed in trouble?
even linking to the guy's blog, which details the whole private server thing, is against forum rules.. Private game servers are illegal, even if it may be cool to use them..

Yes, any version will work, as long as it is not the trial version.Gurpel said:you. are. so. dense.Mav said:uh guys..this is highly illegal.. are we trying to get Ed in trouble?

anyway, i have the original release discs, but there are 2 problems i guess;
1. they're version 1.0 (or whatever the release version was) will this be alright?
2. i havent tried them yet, and they might be scratched. in any case, i would like to not say that i may or may not be hypothetically looking for a pm from alleged "original poster" cuyval dar >>
This was my first thought, but EVERYONE is going to be in Tatooine, which can be a good and bad thing. I was thinking about Naboo, or Talus. And when you think about it, Dantooine could be a good pick due to the availability of starter and difficult mobs.Gurpel said:i vote for tatooine.SeriousJay said:So, where will our city be?
The official policy is "when its done", but the tentative date is June 30th.SeriousJay said:Does beta finish next week?
If not, I can PM you a *place that you can acquire it*.Chibibar said:My wife and I are interested. We are casual player and our first official town was on Tatooine. I had a level 3 town which I turn over after I quit after the new combat/game enhancement changes.
We already got client..... somewhere.
Play around with the Prof calc. A suggestion would be to have a dedicated crafter as an alt.SeriousJay said:So, I'm thinking of making a solid pistoleer/bh build. Any suggestions while we wait?
The alpha test center is running, and is playable, but the full server, Suncrusher is not up yet. The devs are running through a code cleanup/restructure that will make it far easier to maintain and develop in. As soon as that is done, Suncrusher will be released. Is this up and running now?
Going off topic, your sig just gave me a good laugh.Thats awesome, something this board needs to keep a good eye on.

Nifty side note, a guy donated several servers (HP Proliants, AFAIK) to them, so whatever role the dev team uses the in, it will make for a smoother game experience.
Check your PMs, and the OP for how to set it up.ooh.. keep me posted, this sounds like fun. Is there any way to fool around with it NOW? Maybe if I got a special PM?
All the Sims including The Sims might disagree with you ;p... all the fighting games in the universe disagree with you.
Kinda meant the one on our forums, but that is good too.I think I just attempted to join the social group. Name is Meye
No harvesters...yet.Sweet! I'll have to log in again one of these days to check it out.
Was hoping they'd put in missions and remove the blue frogs.
Does that mean I can actually build and place harvesters now?
The resources changed locations every few days, making it so you can't just plop down a few harvesters on the best locations and be done until you quit the game. They move so you have to find a new good spot, IF they even spawn that time. I thought that was ingenious! Made it a lot more fair anyway.[/QUOTE]Not entirely what you mean by "switching" resources, but they will be implementing harvesters soon.

Nice. I'm hanging out on Tat, most of the time.I am now Davis Graves, a scout on Correlia. One day I will be powerful enough to slay a butterfly.
