Facebook Memories reminded me I used to list "three good things" about my day as therapy. I'm going to start doing it again, daily if I can remember. You're welcome to comment your own. It can be something big or as little as taking a shower, making your bed, or snuggling a pet.
So, three good things about today for me, June 6, 2024:
1) I started back on DDP Yoga this morning, after falling off the wagon a few weeks ago. Just 20 minutes, but it's a start.
2) Work was extremely stressful today, but I stuck through my whole shift. My future paycheck will thank me.
3) I wrote 300 new words for Dill's new adventure this morning. Total word count so far: 3,300.

My heart feels like a big lump of shit right now, but you're right. This would be a good exercise. Let's see if I can do this:
1) I spoke to my dad and vented about my fears with the election results. He reassured me that we were on the same page, politically, and told me how much he loved me and my family.
2) I texted my best friend and sent each other virtual hugs. She said she'd never give up the fight to make a better future for Li'l Z.
3) I actually left the house to get groceries. I really didn't want to interact with people today, but we needed some items. I made a compromise that I would wear ear buds so I could listen to music to keep any other possible nonsense from setting me off.

1) Got the furnace diagnosed and running well enough to get us by until Spring.
2) Fixed my neighbor's computer. Tried to get out of there before they could insist on paying me, but was unsuccessful.
3) Updated our router in under 5min, people hardly even noticed the downtime.

This practice feels like a mantra I have had and tell have told myself for a long time. No matter how bad my day is, somedays I lay in bed and say to myself:
No on is pregnant. No one is dead. I am not in jail. Today wasn't so bad, I have had worse.
In spirit of the thread I'll participate (beyond just the three I just said lol).
1. I got a ride home from work yesterday, which means I didn't have to pay for the uber, which is great.
2. After a lot of not wanting to talk to anyone about the election, going through the grieving process, I finally text and called the three people that matter most to me, one being my mother. Now my mother and I share the same views on the election, it was a travesty. And a dark sign for America and the human race, I just wasn't ready to talk about it. I was afraid I was going to grief rage and no one needs to be subjected to that, especially when they are also mourning. But we did have a good conversation, and it was therapeutic to both of us.
3. Work isn't so busy right now, so I have the convenience of electing to come in late today, which I have elected to do with no repercussions.

This is a good thread.
1) I went to visit my sister (fka my brother, from Fistful of Fists fame) after work and we spent the evening watching Degrassi and laughing with her partner and Kags (on the phone)
2) My older brother has been in the ICU for the last few weeks, and is finally being moved out and the journey of Physical Therapy can begin. All good news there
3) I’ve deleted social media and have been able to very actively keep myself from Doom Scrolling. Doing my best to keep my mind healthy active and focused, and social media was the first casualty needed to make sure that happens!

My list for today:
1) Everyone in our family Is where they are meant to be and safe, even if they didn’t communicate that to us all day.
2) Our kitten had his surgery to get fixed and is doing well. He was sent home with meat flavoured pain meds with a lot less hassle than I have getting my prescriptions filled. Mine don’t have added flavour, perhaps that’s the difference? His older brother is caring for him and grooming him. It’s pretty cute. He spent the morning, while the kitten was at the vet, making these sad little chirps while looking for him.
3) It’s been hard to get contractors in general around here after all the extreme weather in the last while. The company that did our heat pumps quoted very reasonably on a small job and had room last minute. This is great news as it’s a small job we have needed to do for some time.

Three good things about today, November 7:
1) I did the 20-minute DDP Yoga Energy workout this morning.
2) Got my first paycheque with my hours fully from the new raise (last one was a mix of the previous position) and paid off some bills.
3) Went to a writing group, dARTspeak, and read some of the first chapter of Dill. It was great. They laughed at all the parts I wanted them to laugh at.

Three good things:
1) Connected with a co-student on our take home exam just to see how she's doing. Hasn't started yet and it's due in exactly a week so I gave some ideas and supportive words. For the record, this is a former Chief at a Top 5 Canadian bank so it's interesting to see how some people operate even if they're supposed to be 'high performers'. Everyone's a fuck up
2) Today school is out and my wife has the day off, so she invited our kids to each have a friend over. This means they are out of my (lack of) hair.
3) It's our first hockey tournament this weekend, 4 games in 2 days. and my son is just starting to have the hockey skills 'click'. He received player of the game last weekend for scoring a goal against a very hard time (Yeah we still lost 10-5 , but the other team has 2 NHL players as their coach dads...)

1) Went to a local craft fair today, and used some of the latest funeral funds to buy some neat things for my now permanent office at work. And still have cash left over.
2) Tidied up the house a bit. Everything is still not completely back to normal post birthday party earlier this week, but it's closer and that feels good.
3) Get to play D&D with colleague-friends tonight!

Three good things about today, November 8:
1) I did the 10-minute DDP Yoga Wake-Up routine this morning.
2) A customer told me that their call with me was "the most efficient call I've ever had in my entire life." Booyah.
3) I caught on Lower Decks. I love that show.

I love this thread. I wish to do my part to help build the positive. Thank you all who have participated.
I am going to change things up just for my post alone. Although I could probably find more good things to celebrate, today I am going to focus on very small things that were still good. My thought is to help encourage myself, and maybe even if you need it you, to see even the smallest good.
and, I say this from the perspective of another of one of many of us who have suffered with the idea of self harm. Many days I have had to tell the universe "Not today demon!" but those days have been much less over the years because of exactly this practice. As mentioned earlier, my mantra "No one is pregnant, no one is dead, I'm not in jail. I've seen worse days."
My three things:
Today I woke up and went to make coffee and remembered I had none and that I had forgotten to buy it yesterday..... but I had some tea that my daughter had bought me a long while back. It wasn't the same, but, it was at least a fix for my morning relaxation.
I got home today and my food sources are fairly bare, but, I'm creative, and plan to eat a hearty bowl of ramen with some left over pork loin and an egg with spices. I expect to spend some extra time tending to it to make it super flavorful and am salivating for it
I thought of my father today, dwelled on the thoughts. It has been 20 years since his passing, I was only 24. My children are almost as old as I was. My thoughts dwelled, and I wanted to cry, and still do, but, I do remember love. His love, my love for him, and that built a warmth, and I could have used all this to post in the whining thread instead, but instead, we have to see the positive.
I love this thread. This is good focus. Especially in these coming dark times.

For Sat. Nov. 9
1) had an excellent 2-hour choir practice this morning
2. delicious tea... and it's almost time to refill my stash of teas, which is fun
3.) not preaching tomorrow (re: remembrance day, my second least favourite Sunday of the year), so that's a bonus that makes today way less stressful

1) For the second day in a row, found someone's phone in the parking lot and turned it in to the customer service desk. Two completely different parking lots, 50mi/85km apart.
2) Discovered Pepperidge Farm makes a swirl bread in lemon & blueberry flavor. It's very nice.
3) Bought a new laptop, which replaces the one I've been using since (checks notes) ... February of 2015. It will arrive the week of Thanksgiving, hopefully far enough in advance of any tariff price hikes.

Three good things for today, November 9:
Today's honestly been a really busy day. I haven't really stopped going since this morning.
1) I donated plasma today. There's a clinic that pays $35 per donation. It's helped a bit with my finances, especially with my bad spending habits.
2) I biked to and from Halifax. While the way back was challenging as hell with high winds on the MacDonald, I enjoyed the newly installed bike lane along the expanded urban greenway. It's quite nice. It'll look great once it's all done.
3) I saw Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window in theaters. Cineplex sometimes shows a classic movie. I'd never seen it before. It was excellent. It may scramble into my top 20 favourite movies, but repeat watches in the future will decide that.

For Nov. 10
1 - went to a band and choir concert this afternoon. It was good.
2 - I was not performing is the above concert. That was also good.
3 - My favorite charity event of the year has begun! Desert Bus for Hope started on Friday. (Google it, donate to charity.)

Three good things about today, Nov 10:
1) I biked to Dartmouth Crossing and bought a BIG bag of cat food for Ruff & Tuff that should last several months.
2) I bought a massive cat tree off Facebook Marketplace. They're delivering it tomorrow.
3) I bought groceries using a lot of saved up points, saving about $30 total.
Hmm. Seems I was a good little consumerist today. Ah well, still a good productive day. Lots of biking.

today:
1) I had a vending event on Saturday, and took stock of sales today. It was a *great* day.
2) Went shopping for xmas decorations with the g/f, which I really enjoyed because it was collaborative. (in my prev. relationship/marriage, I was just along for the wallet, and it was no fun at all)
3) on a lark, the g/f asked if I wanted to have a friendsmas in a group we're in. While I assume I'm probably liked ok there, I never really feel like I'm one of the 'in kids' anywhere. The overwhelming positive response to the invites has me feeling pretty good.

This is for yesterday, Sunday Nov 10. I fell asleep when I got home
1) Butterball and I had a wonderful time volunteering. He adores the ladies at the seniors home we go to and there are some of them that he jumps right over to them and cuddles them and gives them kisses. We had an extra long visit today because he was doing so well.
2) He and I went to Michael’s afterwards and I found the yarn my aunt recommended for making leg warmers. The ones I bought at the mall shrunk in the wash and look toddler sized now lol. I found multiple super cute patterns that I think are within my ability to make.
3) I ordered some Woobles kits in September and they got lost in the mail. They are still in Montreal per the tracking. They sent a replacement which arrived. The original also arrived. The post office said it wasn’t possible as they showed that duty had been charged and it should never have been released without payment. The tracking still shows it in Montreal. I sent pictures to the company and asked them how they’d like it sent back to them. They said they would send me a shipping label. They wrote back and said to just keep it and enjoy it which I thought was very kind of them.

For yesterday, Nov. 14
1- got some planning done for the new year, which relieves some stress
2- saw a friend, who also gave me some belated birthday treats
3- had a productive evening meeting (which is usually just long and not productive)

Yesterday
1 - I thought I'd spend tomorrow (today, Friday) by myself, but my partner changed their plans and now I will not be spending it by myself.
Pho is my death row last meal food at this point. I am a basic b about it too. I never add anything to it. Everyone else is picking apart the basil and mixing their preferred sauces and adding bean sprouts (never them shits is responsible for the majority of food poisoning cases) and I'm half done the soup. Gimme all the shitty meats too. Tripe, fatty flank, tendon, crunchy tendon, and those weird squeaky meatballs.

I've neglected posting mine lately, so here's today:
1) I started doing light therapy in the morning with a day lamp. Don't know if it's making a difference yet. But Tuff cuddles up with me while I read the whole time.
2) Did the 20-minute DDP Yoga Energy workout this evening.
3) Continuing to re-read Sweet Tooth, by Jeff Lemire, after getting the compendium on a really good discount.

1) Replaced our two 11yr-old smoke detectors that covered our upstairs with seven new ones that cover the whole house (or at least enough of it to count). The new ones even link up wirelessly so when one triggers, they all go off.
2) Finally got the oil changed in the other car. This meant I had to get up at 5a to make it there and get it done before work. Had so many points built up that I even got it done for free.
3) Reconnected with someone I haven't talked to in ages. It was very rewarding. No not like that get your head out of the gutter

In the spirit of IGSDD,
1) Copied all the stuff (400GB worth) off my old laptop to an external so I can begin integrating it onto the new one (minus the stuff that doesn't matter).
2) Redeemed my 7 remaining promotional Audible credits before they were set to expire in two weeks...which is not enough time to pick out 7 books!
3) Set up the new TV speakers I've had sitting around unopened for almost a month.

1. After 7 months of administrative red tape and stonewalling, my insurance has sent over confirmation today that they'll pay back (part of) my stolen bike. Which, since it was an electric speed bike, amounts to several thousand euros.
2. I got a simulation back from HR about the expected payout when I'm being let go next year, and it's several thousands of euros more than my own calculations indicated.
3. Starting to feel slightly better after a week of being sick.
