Should be fun. I'll let you know if the 3D conversion was terrible, but honestly I'm just looking forward to the sound and big screen. Good 3D would just be icing.

I've often wondered why they don't have more movie houses that show older films, or why studios don't do re-releases of their major films. If I could go see those old movies on the big screen, I totally would.

I feel like it's just money wasted by not doing so.

As digital distribution replaces film reels, this becomes more and more doable.

Just think, a classic movie theater with up to date equipment and an on demand selection to choose from could hold special turn back the clock galas every month.

One of our cinemas here did something like that back in the mid-80s, movie summer. Over the course of 3 weeks they showed one classic movie a day. Good times were had watching Godfather, High Noon, Taxi Driver, The Graduate and all that stuff on the big screen.

I've got it!

There's a vacant Art Deco theater from the 30's here. It was divided into three theaters back in the 70s.

What I need now is a kickstarter to buy the building, undo the split, bring the physical plant up to code and 2013 standards, then upgrade the projection and sound systems. Simple.

The big theater chain in Canada, Cineplex Odeon, does older movies every weekend here. I've only been to a couple, but it's pretty rad to watch movies such as Casablanca in a gigatheater.
