Anyone playing this yet? It's a single-player-only diablo clone, by the makers of Diablo. I've heard good things about it, but I'm still somewhat on the fence and the demo isn't out yet...So, I want more opinions before shelling out :-P

Hey, i wanted to post this... i just got distracted playing the demo... lvl 7 Destroyer and lvl 6 Alchemist... damn this is addictive.

Screen caps look like Fate with grownup characters. Should I buy this tonight?

Yeah, the game is pretty much Fate 2. It's OK, I played through the demo, but it actually just made me reinstall Diablo 2.

Yeah, this game couldn't get more of a Diablo/Blizzard feel if it tried.

Of course, it's awesome.
Even the music is almost directly taken from Diablo 2. I can't really fault the developers seeing as they used to be on the diablo team. Why change a formula that already works? I do like the pet aspect.

The pet and fishing are stolen directly from Fate. But I do like the fact you can load your pet up with swag and send him back to town to sell it for you.

Yes, you heard me right. Your dog or cat runs back to town with your spare gear and sells it for you, then comes back. The deeper you are in the dungeon the longer it takes him to come back.

And when you catch fish you feed it to your pet and he changes into other creatures for a time. Plus your pet can't ever die.

All in all it's a good game, but I've played it before.

So, is it worth a buy or not? Can't play the demo due to no Steam and the WildTangent thingie is wonky :-P
Mind you, I've never played Fate.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

That said, it is a pretty neat game :D
You misunderstand. I did not send you an activation code that was mine, I purchased the game twice. I sent the other one to you.

Me no pirate games.

 I see. Err, thanks, in that case :-D Me love you long time! Good thing that you said that, because I was contemplating buying it for myself now that I realised I like it. Me no pirate games either, these days. If it's good enough to be worth some of my way too rare computer gaming time, it's worth the €20 or €50 it costs :)

Note that I didn't download this from Steam. I hope you don't have to have the web to play this game. But I am seeing this complaint on their forums.

Haven't tried playing it offline yet..It connected for activation, but I think that was it.
Have to say, the loading times seem absurdly long. I mean, my computer is close to quadruple the minimum requirements, I wasn't expecting 20 seconds and more of loading in between levels

I just hit level 7 in the demo (I tried setting it to "Very Hard" to make the demo last longer but it didn't seem to do much), playing a melee-focused Vanquisher.

I like the game. Certainly could help tide me over till Diablo III, but the one thing that always bugged me about Diablo was I felt so detached from my character. I'm not playing her, I'm directing her around from a distance. The one thing I felt Hellgate London really got RIGHT was how visceral the combat was while keeping everything else that was cool about Diablo.

Also, making all the weapons glow all over the place gets annoying pretty fast. I swap back and forth between duel wielding pistols and swords, and they all just look like glowy balls of light so I can't tell what I'm current wielding.

I'm playing the mage dude, arcane style. Man, once I got Ember Lance it was all over for everything. I'm playing on hard and all I have to do is aim (it does help that my gear has about +40 knockback on it) and let it loose and everything in the path of my beam is obliterated. Ember Lance is fucking nuts.

Ever since my first character, I have continuously gotten a bug wherein Brink doesn't actually join my party when I meet him, he just wanders around randomly. Assuming I cared about the story (hahahahahaha), how important is it to make sure I actually meet him?

Also, is it possible to beat the Brink quest in the demo? So far I got to level 7 (both dungeon and character-wise). Characterwise that seems to be the level cap. How far down am I suppose to go to meet the guy who hurt Syl?

Brink is the first boss you run into on the last level of the mines. That's the last level that you can hit in the demo for the game. It's a scripted event, so I don't think it should be an issue that he doesn't follow you. I don't recall which floor it is that he hits you, but it's the first waypoint that you see in the game.

I'm very tempted to play this, but I'm not sure I really have the time. Maybe in December I'll be able to pick this up and give it the proper play time it deserves.

despite what i said earlier, i bought the game and i like it, it's fun and fast.

I have decided to play hardcore only. nice little graveyard on my balcony already

Happened to me with the Alchemist in the demo... didn't affect the stuff he was in at all...

And you get to a level where there's no monsters but that guy, and then there's a portal and if you try to go lower the game ends...

I have't made it to the last level (I don't have a portal down there and I kept getting bored, having already hit max level) but I did discover that if you use the "Map Portals" you buy from the store, you can explore levels that I assume are beyond the final one in the demo. But you die a lot in them, and can't create portals back.
