I doubt that what I'd actually do in that situation is going to be anything like what I think I'd do, or think I should do. But right now, when I'm not actually facing the situation, I think I'd rather die where i am, likely where others can find me than die wherever he decides to kill me of his choice.

Probably the wrong solution in the long run, but kidnapping portends worse outcomes than simple mugging.

But it doesn't much matter. Without training you really have no time to think about what the right thing to do is. When I was mugged, I had my nice SLR in the car, and didn't think to take it out and take pictures of the getaway car, all I could think was to go in the store and alert someone and have them call the police. Probably for the best, though, as if they saw me taking pictures, they may consider coming back and using their car or gun to solve the issue.

This is my thinking and what my dad taught my sister and me when we were kids. If someone's crazy enough to point a gun at you out in the open, who knows what they'll do to you when they have you alone.

I mean, supermodels and trenchcoats exist in Finland. So it's entirely possible.

However, if you think you can draw a gun on someone and shoot them before they have a chance to blow your brains out, you've probably watched too many action movies.

Also I never said I was going to stay still. Move to a position where he doesn't have a shot; front or back of car. Even if he floors it you should be able to move out of the way of the vehicle. If not then draw and fight for your life.

I'm amazed no one has simply taken a gun over to Finland and declared themselves emperor. Apparently the whole country is devoid of weapons and people can't even fathom a violent act, so they should all be easy pickin's.

No point trying that, I must warn you. 80% of males have undergone basic military training, the police carry, and trying that kind of shit on a Saturday night will most likely lead to you receiving a pistol enema because everyone is heavily anesthesized due to alcohol.

And it's not that Finns "can't even fathom a violent act" - it's just that most often random street violence is done via fists or knives. Firearms are mostly the domain of school shooters and such among the non-law-abiding element.

Honestly, I'd have no idea. It seriously just depends on the exact situation at the time, whether I run, try to disarm, or get in the car with hopes of escaping later (or immediately after we start driving). There's really no telling. I'd like to not be in that situation.

I got over my "I could take them" fantasies a good while ago, so now I'm pretty much aware I'd be unlikely to do much. I do know, however, that people tend to be awful fucking shots when surprised.

I think what I would actually do depends on a lot of other factors (and random dice rolls in the brain!) but personally I'd rather die on my own terms than be dragged off helpless to whatever horrors await at the hands of the gun toting maniac.

I chose fight... but it's really fight or flight. If I had a reasonable avenue of escape I would run for it. I can run fast and I'm in fairly decent shape right now and can keep running for a long while.

It is unlikely that I would get in the car... but I can't say that there is no chance of it happening.

Logically if they want me alive then they won't kill me for fighting back, and if they don't want me alive then I will die in or after the car ride. Therefore if following logic I would fight.

However, realistically I would probably wet myself and then get in the car while crying.
