It's perfectly legal to videotape people in a public area. Wiretapping is only illegal in private circumstances.
 
Since police often have video dash cameras, I find this reassuring. For years they have been taping traffic stops, why shouldn't he be allowed to do the same?

This. I cannot stress this enough. Film me all you want - TRY and catch me doing something illegal to you. I'll be laughing all the way to court
 
Cops Gone Wild just doesn't have the same ring to it, in multiple respects.

Seriously, good on the decision.

But I wonder, will this ruling be considered precedent for the purposes of the laws as applied, or will future videotaping motorists require their day in court to re-affirm this decision?
