I dont care where they show it. I have been wanting to a see a zombie tv series for ages! The Walking Dead is fantastic and would love to see it as a regular tv series.

:zombie:

Fuck, does Kirkman just take the first deal he can find? Those awful Spike Battle Pope flash toons and the even worse MTV Invincible "motion" comics should have fucking taught him something. I love his work, but God damn.

And why fucking AMC? They're as bad as TBS for censorship.

Well, AMC has Mad Men running on it, and that is one of my favorite shows out there right now. So really, not totally weak.

Does AMC run Breaking Bad censored in the US? I know here it's barely coherent through the silent-out censorship.

And shit, the other night they played Commando and cut out almost all of the rad violence.

AMC? weak
The network that brought us Mad Men and Breaking Bad is weak? AMC is close to being the new HBO.

For a basic cable station, AMC is fantastic with censorship for their original series - they actually allow swearing. Sure, when it's aired it's blanked out, but once it's released on DVD, that doesn't matter any more.

Yeah. I haven't seen Mad Men, but I hear a lot of good stuff about it. Isn't there a second AMC show someone here was touting as awesome about a guy dealing drugs?

I've seen a couple episodes of Breaking Bad a while ago. Seemed interesting but not something I'd bother watching on AMC.

At least it has a fighting chance on AMC. If it were ABC, CBS, NBC, USA, MTV or SciFi it would be garbage.

I'm semi excited about this. Breaking bad is great and I've only heard good things about mad men. The director is hit or miss with me, but mostly hits. Hopeful optimism would probably be a more accurate discription I guess.

I don't believe AMC will air content one would expect from the comic series.
unless you only expect b level horror with extreme gore a la jellied intestines, etc, amc will do fine. And yes, while that can be fun, it not completely necessary. Of all the networks, i am glad AMC has it, only thing better would be hbo.

WD is my fav comic book series... it's one of the few comics I actually go out and make a point of buying every month. I'm hopeful, but cautious.

Damn, I didn't think of that. Why didn't HBO pick up this series?

This.

Unless they plan to air it uncut, it's going to suck.

Half of the cool factory aside from the great characters and wtfmoments in Walking Dead is A) the violence and B) the dialogue

AMC may be a cable station but they still can't say a lot of certain words that are considered profanity

Nor would they be able to truly show us the zombie loving gore Kirkman piles into his book

This would have been perfect on HBO or Showtime (imagine this as a lead in to True Blood or Dexter)

*sigh* I mean yea most of us fans will still watch it but seriously, it's going to be watered down zombies and the humans that interact with them

What makes good TV is a good story. Period. Sure, lots of things can ruin that, but lack of profanity is not one of those things. Though I can't be too surprised at your comments, Mav. You still like Heroes.

It's not just profanity dude.

The zombie gore is going to be minimal. Only slightly above what you could see on network tv.

Airing it on AMC affects everything from profanity, to the violence, to the gore and to the nudity.

Seriously, how many PG-13 zombie movies are there that have been good?

Imagine an ongoing pg-13 zombie show based on one great comic book..

Besides the zombie gore, which doesn't matter that much (though it needs to look good, some of the shots from the first issue such as the almost totally rotten body outside of the hospital would be awesomely disturbing) what does matter more is the interactions between the human characters. The often extremely brutal way the survivors treat one another. The comic is extremely brutal and yes, I do think it would hurt the series overall to be toned down. The comic's human on human violence is waaaaaaay more eerie and disturbing than the random zombie shit.

I would definitely rather the show be on Showtime or HBO.

You would be amazed what they can get away with on cable though. I think that they can do a great show with it on AMC, and I am definitely optimistic.

That's my main issue with AMC though, the channel won't even play over the top goofy ass violence like that in Commando without cutting it to shreds.

They edit those movies once, down to PG, and then play them whenever the fuck they want.

They play their original series at night, and rate them MA, and get away with a fuckton of HBO-level stuff on Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

The slasher TV show on CBS(C-B-S!) had as its first kill a dude get cut in half graphically, spitting up blood, then showed both halves with blood and bones/guts jutting out of each. American TV can push violence barriers all it wants, even cable. If the pilot comes out and it has less death than the A-Team, then rage away, but until then, it's reasonable to say that there's no reason to think this is gonna be neutered.

I am just happy that something of this quality is being considered. It gives me hope that not all of the entertainment industry is a lost cause.

Oh YES!

I have no idea what AMC censors or not, but as long as Kirkman has a say on what goes on in the series, I'm fucking PSYCHED.
