I am a huge VW bus fan, by the way.[DOUBLEPOST=1411415118,1411414934][/DOUBLEPOST]I like the way it simulates being a college student again by draining your wallet.

Wow.

I mean, wow....

I really like the old vans that they had, but this one though... I dunno, it looks like they tried to shove a bus into an estate/MPV skin

They, meaning some graphic designer other than VW...

Bah, oh well. My wife sent me that article. I guess I should've verified.

Doh, and here I was all ready to say that the price was set there on purpose, because VW knows the hippies who would be nostalgic for a VW bus are now all junior execs for union carbide and can afford it. But then it turned out to be fake.

Dang.

The form factor has a lot of promise. I'd love to have a vehicle that's basically a mini-van without being a minivan. So far, the only options have been oversized station wagons or small SUVs. I could really use a sedan with a nice, roomy backpack.

I saw that pic not too long ago. I like VW vans, too, and was really looking forward to this.

We have that car. My wife has the four door Fiat 500L. It's like a mini-minivan. It's like a spacepod because it has windows everywhere.

The Mazda5 looks like a mini minivan, I think.

The vehicles I point to when I'm trying to explain the form factor I want are the Audi Allroad or the Volvo XC70. They're both a full SUV wide but only one car tall.

The Allroad is a nice looking car--everywhere except the price tag region.

And its repair history. But it's everything I want in size, shape, features, etc.

I hope somebody will make a wagon that I can replace my HHR for in another 5 years.

Yes, but it's an Audi, which is sort of like getting "I'm a douchebag" branded on your body. Yes, Audi have some very impressively engineered cars but whenever I see one, it's like, "Oh, I bet that guy's a real asshole." And then they do something that justifies that feeling.

It's kind of like a BMW or a Mercedes. every time I see one they are either speeding to cut me off, or they just turned into the wrong lane and cut someone else off.

Right, whereas when you see a Lexus without gold trim, you know they're a dentist or allergist or the like - someone who's doing well, but isn't especially exciting.

Don't forget the switchblade in his sock.

Or is that standard issue with a 1980's Camaro IROC?

It says your car needs to get registered to vote in three years.

I drive a 1991 Toyota Camry, and it says, "I can't afford a newer car."
