What do you think people will care more? death or iPad 2?

I read this and went "oh no!" 3 death and 15 injured from a factory, but as I read further, I can see other people (maybe not on this forum) might go "oh no" toward the lack of iPad 2.

The loss of life is bad. I just think the number 500,000 is a bit shocking.

I went into this thinking "Bet it's a Chinese factory and it happened because of unsafe work conditions..." and I was not disappointed. I'm also not surprised it was a Foxconn owned facility, considering all the suicides they've had in the last few years. Still, I'm not sure what upsets me more...

- The fact that these people died because their employers continue to cut corners and make their employees work in unsafe conditions as a matter of practice.

- That Foxconn and others like them are directly responsible for these problems and that they won't do anything to prevent them from happening again.

- Or that if these problems were fixed, the people buying the damn products would complain because their electronics now cost twice what they used to.

I didn't even think about that. I was more sad that more of my brothers are dead due to company being cheap, but I guess people would be MORE upset if iPad 2 64GB cost 1200 instead of 799 (Wifi version)

Why? Is this one of those situations where you aren't allowed to say that both things are bad? You have to choose one or the other as being the "bad" thing, and you have to therefore decide that the other isn't bad?

Wouldn't that be the equivalent of saying "Gee... It's a tragedy that those people died, but I'm sure as hell not going to pay more for my toys so it won't happen again." It's a bit callus, but I'll admit it IS a legitimate opinion.

Uh, no. I don't know where you got that from. I was responding to the thread title and OP.

Ahh... then I apologize. Thought you were referring to Chibi's second comment.

Heh. Well, it is more of a "social experiment" on people's reaction. It is usually which will happen first when people read it (especially the title) the article title was
'Combustible Dust' Plant Explosion May Cost Apple 500,000 iPads

so when people read that, if they are selfish they would go "oh no" on iPad first before reading further on thinking "I hope no one is hurt"

Of course the title suggest that people will be more concern about iPads than people or it would have said "Combustible Dust" plan exploded killed 6 people in China.

... now I want an illustration. For research purposes only, of course. How exactly would you tie three iPads together?
