I found this article to be excellent: What's New in CPUs Since the 80s and How Does It Affect Programmers?

Definitely extremely tech-heavy, and basically for people who already work in the industry. But a really great summary IMO.

Definitely aimed more at the programmer than even someone as hardware-savvy as myself, but still an interesting glance.
