I've got a constant pain in my jaw, to the point that it makes it difficult to eat because of it. As it turns out, the only reason it hurts is because I clench my jaw. And I can't stop. I've tried, I'll unclench it, think everything is fine, and as soon as I stop thinking about it, I'm clenching again and don't even know it.
Stupid lousy jaw.

Get a mouth guard, I use one when I sleep. But you can keep it in when you are lounging around the house.

You need to be shocked more so your jaw stays open.

The mouth guard when you sleep is a very good idea also work on general stress should help.

I had the same problem after some dental work recently. It freaked out some nerves in my back teeth that was radiating into my lower jaw and causing jaw pain. It was all due to the fact I clench and grind my teeth that kept aggravating the nerves.
I attempted to use store bought night guards but they kept either falling out or I was subconsciously removing them at night. I ended up having to put down over $500 for a custom fit one that now snaps over my teeth and does not wiggle off. Had to do it as it was getting impossible to eat without pain.
So far, it's helped a lot. A cheaper one may work better for you though.

I went to see my dentist today. She examined me, said a mouth guard was needed, and started to measure me for one . I had some fit problems with most of them,(turns out I have a big mouth) but was eventually able to get one that fit.
Not that it's the same thing.. but I was tidying my desk last week and found (for perhaps the third time) a small manilla envelope labeled "[GasBandit's real first name]'S TEETH."
Inside are my wisdom teeth, extracted years ago.
It's still so very much fun to take them out and shake them like dice.

They had to shatter mine and take them out in small pieces.
I'm glad I was unconscious for that particular job...
