ok so this is a new one on me.. computer comes in with windows 7 64 bit, can't browse on Chrome, IE9 or Firefox. I check the tcp/ip settings and they are correct. I run hitmanpro and malwarebytes assuming malfeasance - nada. I recheck the proxy settings in both ie and firefox, and they are good. The catch is, I can ping with cmd, and MWB can update perfectly fine, as well as Hitman pro. After mucking about with it for half hour, I finally did a system restore to Friday, and that restored it to working order.
So what did I miss?

Do you have proxy turn on with no proxy address? (this is common trick for some malware)
Go to control panel -> internet options -> Connection -> LAN Setting -> make sure proxy is not checked.
